BELMONT - Police are searching for the person who broke into a church and caused $50,000 damage.

The destruction was discovered around 8:15 Saturday morning. It happened at the Holy Comforter Lutheran Church on North Main Street in Belmont.

The thief shattered several stained glass windows.

Once inside, police said the person ransacked the place, damaging pianos and an expensive copier, and stealing several computers.

Anyone with information about this crime should call Belmont Police.
