Paper better than PC/device for learning

- study conducted with group of students, ages 18-29
- one group of student were given pen and paper, while other group used tablet PC or smartphone
- those who took written notes about subject presented did so faster than those using electronic devices
- participants were placed in a MRI machine and given brain scan while they were quizzed about subject material
- students using paper had enhanced brain activity
- regions of brain stimulated included memory, language and navigation
- using paper gives brain extra special and tactile info to help in recall
