- Ricoh laid off about 6,400 workers through voluntary retirements of sales and maintenance personnel overseas, and by consolidating manufacturing after it opened a new factory in China in July
- Canon laid off about 4,100 employees during the same time, including sales staff for its office equipment and cameras business in Europe and the United States
o It also eliminated jobs by combining business units overseas, such those providing maintenance. - Xerox eliminated about 1,500 employees
- According to market-research firm IDC, the 2.46 million A3 MFPs sold from January to September were down 22% year-over-year
