With single-pass, straight-line processing technology, the newest additions to the award-winning WORKiOR line output color and black & white at high speeds, and scan in color too!
SECAUCUS, NJ Panasonic announces the launch of two new color multifunction products (MFPs) that really get down to business with productivity and speed. The WORKiO DP-C401 digital imaging system prints and copies at speeds1 ranging from up to 40 ppm/1200 dpi in black and white and up to 22 ppm/600 dpi in color. The WORKiO DP-C321 prints and copies at speeds1 ranging from up to 32 ppm/1200 dpi in black and white and up to 16 ppm/600 dpi in color.
Offering a range of capabilities, the DP-C401 and DP-C321 come standard with high-speed color scanning at resolutions up to 600 x 600 dpi. Other color MFPs may scan in black and white only. Adding to an impressive list of capabilities and features, the DP-C401 and DP-C321 come standard with duplex and network PCL. and PostScript. printing. Panasonic offers color products in various speeds suitable for small, medium, and large size businesses.
With more than 50 years of experience in the document imaging business, Panasonic is a leader in developing digital systems that deliver superior quality, performance and value. This is reflected in the DP-C401s and DP-C321s image, which is enhanced by the use of ultra-fine emulsion aggregation toner particles that produce razor-sharp lines and details.
The "Perfect" Workgroup System
According to Terry Wirth, director of the Technical Services Division of Industry Analysts, Inc., the DP-C401s image quality is perfect for workgroups.
"The DP-C401 has excellent print and copy quality for all the things a workgroup typically produces including charts, graphs, PowerPoint presentations and text," Wirth said. "We also found that the system does an above average job for halftones when compared to other workgroup devices." Wirth added that the DP-C401 is "as close to being the perfect workgroup MFP of any comparable system to date."
Reliability and productivity are also important considerations for workgroups. Most of the
DP-C401s and DP-C321s replaceable parts can be installed by the user and do not require a service call. The systems have a user-friendly, touch-screen control panel and standard total paper capacity of more than 3,000 sheets.
According to Paul Wharton, Panasonics product marketing manager for copier/fax/MFP, the
DP-C401 and DP-C321 are also particularly well suited to the imaging needs of certain horizontal and vertical markets.
"Workgroups that perform a marketing communication function, as well as those in vertical markets such as finance and real estate, can increase their productivity and improve asset management with the DP-C401 or DP-C321," Wharton said.
According to Wharton, this is because one of the things that Panasonic does particularly well is analyze and understand customers document management processes. Wharton also said Panasonic places a great deal of emphasis on understanding customers workflow.
"This is essential to providing efficient, cost-effective solutions such as the DP-C401 and DP-C321 that match work processes in specific markets," he added.
High Output Resolution and Consistent Color
Regardless of the market, users will appreciate that the DP-C401 and DP-C321 reproduce color prints at 600 x 600 dpi, while data processing is performed using 1200 x 1200 dpi internal resolution to ensure high resolution and fine gradations are maintained. Black and white documents print with superior 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution for everyday office output.
The DP-C401 and DP-C321 maintain consistent color reproduction without user intervention. Some adjustments are made internally, including compensating for varying temperature and humidity conditions. Other adjustments are made before, during and after output to ensure consistent document quality from beginning to end.
Multi-Protocol/Client Design
The DP-C401 and DP-C321 come standard with a built-in 10Base-T/100Base-TX Ethernet controller for easy connection to an existing LAN. The DP-C401 uses a multi-protocol (TCP/IP, NetWare, EtherTalk, NetBEUI, etc.), multi-client (WindowsR , Macintosh, etc.) design that enables this advanced digital imaging systems connection to just about any office network.
Print from Email; Scan-to-Email
Todays office environment requires a far greater range of capabilities in a MFP than ever before. When the DP-C401 or DP-C321 receives an email with a TIFF or PDF attachment, the attachment can be printed without the need for the original application. An optional scan-to-email feature2 makes it easy to convert documents into TIFF, JPEG or PDF format image data, which can be sent as email attachments directly from the DP-C401 and DP-C321.
Scan-to-Mailbox; Secure Printing
The DP-C401 and DP-C321 allow scanned data to be stored in your mailbox so that the required images can be downloaded to the client PC using any TWAIN-compliant application. These documents can be accessed and viewed virtually anywhere using any standard web browser.
When printing confidential documents, the print data can be stored temporarily in the printers memory, and then printed later using the easy-to-understand intuitive touch panel.
Panasonic Document Management System Software
The standard Document Manager software allows users to efficiently manage scanned documents and other PC files with a simple "drag & drop" operation. Files can be saved in various standard formats including PDF, JPEG and TIFF.
User-Friendly Design/Intuitive Printer Driver Control
Quick access and intuitive operation are provided via the easy-to-use touch-screen control panel, enabling everyone in the office to take advantage of the DP-C401s and DP-C321s professional printing, scanning and copying capabilities with minimal training.
Thanks to the graphical printer driver screen, its easy to use the DP-C401 and DP-C321 directly from a desktop. Using the intuitive controls allows you to customize the setting for virtually any document by displaying a graphical preview of the changes on a PC, taking the guesswork out of printing.
Wirth, at Industry Analysts, Inc., described the DP-C401 as extremely user friendly. "The DP-C401 is easy to install, operate and manage," Wirth said. "Managers quickly discover that they can install the system on the floor and people start using it immediately. The DP-C401 sets a new benchmark for ease of installation and use."
Web-Based Utilities/Network Printer Utilities
With the built-in web server, users can send print jobs without the print driver, retrieve scan jobs, see the current job and/or machine status, set paper tray attributes, and set up the various supported network environments right from a standard web browser.
The DP-C401 and DP-C321 handle PCLR 6 as well as genuine AdobeR PostScriptR 3T data for compatibility with most current applications.
Versatile Scanning Selections
Users can choose from four scanning resolutions (600 x 600, 400, 300 and 200 dpi). Files can be scanned in JPEG, TIFF or PDF 2 format into Panasonic-DMS software or for inclusion into industry standard document management applications. All of the convenient copying features that you are accustomed to using are also available during scanning, including mixed originals, two-sided originals, scanned image size, reduction/enlargement, book scanning, edge erasing, contrast adjustments and compression method.
Easy-to-Maintain Design
C, M, Y and K color toner cartridges and each drum cartridge can be changed independently, so when a cartridge is empty, only that cartridge has to be replaced. Front-panel access makes changing cartridges quick and easy.
Upgrade-Capable Design
Following in the footsteps of all the WORKiO digital imaging systems, the DP-C401 and DP-C321 are also engineered for expansion to meet the ever-changing needs within the office environment. This includes the availability of an optional finisher that can be added to provide various finishing capabilities.
The WORKiO DP-C401 and DP-C321 color MFPs feature a Power Saver mode to reduce power consumption, and meet ENERGY STARR 3 guidelines for energy efficiency. The base model DP-C401 and DP-C321 carry an MSRP4 of $26,750 and $24,995 respectively.
