Doug Pitassi, the longtime Oregon executive who transformed Pacific Office Automation from a sleepy copier company into a half-billion-dollar business, took an indefinite leave of absence Wednesday after explosive allegations of sexual assault against him by former employees.

“With the best interests of POA at heart, Doug has decided to step away from his duties as President/CEO and take a leave of absence from the company,” two top executives wrote in an email to Pacific Office Automation’s 1,400 employees. “This was not an easy decision for Doug.”

“We remain committed to our employees, partners, customers and community,” the company wrote in the message, signed by Chief Financial Officer Brooks Newsom and by Pacific Office Automation attorney Andrew Salgado. Newsom’s father Terry founded the company in 1976.

The email did not say why Pitassi is taking a leave or make any mention of the scandal engulfing him and the company. Pacific Office Automation did not immediately respond to questions about what prompted Pitassi’s leave, how long he would be out or who would run the business in his absence.....more here
