This printer was giving out SC500s because the fuser was binding up. So I put in a maint kit (2000) which is the fuser, transfer roller and feed roll.
The next day the customer called for an SC543. I went out there, removed the fuser and took it apart. seemed OK except on the pressure roll bushings were spacers, like caps. I also noticed that the green pressure levers were not tight against the frame like you would think but moved OK. If I took the caps off, the levers would be in the normal(I think) position. Anyway, I put the fuser back together and reinstalled it, and reset the SC.
Then I got an SC542. Not enought heat. I pulled the unit back out and it was pretty hot. So I cleaned the contacts. opened the unit again and make sure the themistor was touching the upper roller. Reinstalled it and it was fine. Printed about 20 pages and left.
Today they call in again for SC543.
I looked in the parts book and didnt see the spacers on the lower fuser bushings and no reference to them any where. I might think they should be removed before installing the fuser and were just there to keep the rollers apart during shipment except that they are only accessable, indeed you can only see them when the unit is apart.
But those green pressure levers on other fusers Ive seen dont have that much play in them.
The old fuser was tossed so I cant compare them that way and I dont have another fuser unit. I only had the one maint kit as this is the only 7020 we have in the field.
I have searched the lit and cant find a clue as to what is going on.
Has anybody had any experience with this model?
