One of Rochester's Top 100 companies is being purchased by a division of Xerox Corp.

For Mark Perlo, the deal closes the circle on a career in which he at one time was a Xerox sales manager who went on to start his own company, Xerographic Solutions Inc., in 1991.

Now it's Xerographic Solutions that is being acquired by Global Imaging Systems, a Xerox company based in Tampa, Fla.

"I'm absolutely thrilled," Perlo said on Wednesday. "The company is thrilled. It's absolutely the right thing to happen at the right time."
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Xerographic Solutions is a document management and consulting firm located in Perinton that is a Xerox sales agent. Global Imaging Systems is made up of regional companies that sell and service document management systems.
"Global Imaging Systems' goal is to acquire companies in markets that we really don't have a strong presence," said Tom Salierno, executive vice president of corporate operations. "We look for companies with a very strong management team, obviously a strong market and strong financials.
"We are excited to have (Xerographic Solutions) become part of Global. Mark Perlo is an excellent manager and we are happy to have him on the team."
Xerographic Solutions technically is joining forces with Eastern Copy Products, a Global Imaging company based in Syracuse. Perlo will remain as general manager and senior vice president, and Xerographic's 55 employees will stay, too. The company also will keep its name.
Salierno said the company name and management are important to Global because of the connections to customers. Xerographic Solutions services companies in Rochester, western New York and northwestern Pennsylvania.
Perlo said his company has grown substantially in the past 10 years and the acquisition will allow it to continue growing.

Xerographic Solutions was No. 8 in the 2010 Rochester Top 100 ranking of the region's fastest-growing privately held companies. It is one of several high-ranking Top 100 companies that have been acquired recently.
The No. 1 company, SenDEC Corp. in Perinton, was purchased by API Technologies Corp., a Chicago-based electronics manufacturer.

No. 3 Retrotech Inc. of Fishers, Ontario County, was bought by Savoye Inc., also of Chicago.
Fibertech Networks LLC, a Brighton telecommunications company that was sixth on the list, was purchased by private equity firm Court Square Capital Partners in New York City.
Xerographic Solutions had achieved Top 100 status seven times, with last year's No. 8 ranking its highest. As part of Global Imaging and, by extension, of Xerox, Xerographic Solutions will no longer be eligible for the Top 100, which requires companies to be independent.
