Print vendor, Oki, is set to release a new range of printers during the next few weeks.
For the first time in seven years, Oki is releasing a whole new design of six printers, which will be specifically aimed at the retail market, Oki marketing manager, Chris Thorley, said.
“We have released new product in this category and segment before, but it’s been based on the same design and engine,” Thorley said. “This is the first time they’ve completely redesigned the engine and form factor. It’s really exciting for us because what a product looks like these days plays a large part in purchasing decisions.” The new machines will be single function colour printers priced between $400 and $800 and are energy star compliant, Thorley said.
“All of our products are now produced in carbon zero production facilities,” he said.
Oki has four production facilities in Japan, China, Thailand and Scotland.
In November last year, Oki purchased IPL’s print distribution business.
Oki managing director, Takaaki Hagiwara, said it aimed to increase its Australian market share through its direct and distribution partnerships. In Australia, its line up includes Ingram Micro, Synnex and Alloys.
The vendor has also extended its warranty period on its product to three years.
“It’s a testament to the reliability of LED technologies used in the printer,” he said.
Oki has also developed an entire different product line to cater for managed print service providers. Called the Executive Suite, the vendor will be looking at introducing five more models to the Australian market.
“The range will bloom out to seven models and we’re expanding into providing A4 devices,” Thorley said.
