I have a customer that wants to automate scanning and ocr with a Ricoh product (not ecabinet). Can Scan Router lite or Scan Router Pro OCR a document and save it as a pdf?

We set up an IS 450DE for a customer and used Adobe Acrobat full version. We then set up catalogs, do you need to edit the document? Or just search?
Can I do it from a 1075?
I would try it at your location first, all we used for the ID450DE was the Ricoh Twain Driver for Scanning and then told it where to out the file on the scan server.
I've got some lawyers who scan docs as PDF's to the print server, and because they are lawyers, purchased only one Adobe Acrobat program and put it on the print server. When the scans come in, they OCR in the print server, and pull docs to their PC's.
This should work and youdon't need Scan Router Pro. Using Destop Binder Pro, use the twain driver to access the documents from the 1075 (you ahould be able to achieve the link with Smart Net Monitor), set the twain to scan to pdf's and then have them OCR'd in Desktop Binder Pro.

When using the 1075 you can scan the 300 pages if you add them as they are being fed into the copier. However you can not OCR a PDF document it must be saved as a TIFF file for most every OCR application. ScanRouter does not OCR a document at all. DeskTopBinder will OCR a document but it will only save it as a Text File!! You can then convert the Text File into another format such as BMP, TIFF or JPEG with DeskTopBinder Lite if you are using DeskTopBinder Pro you can convert the file to BMP, TIFF, JPEG or PDF. You other option would be GlobalScan with the OCR Option. This will allow you to choose the file format from the 1075 front panel as a PDF Image, TIFF, PDP Image Plus Text, PDF Text, Microsoft Word, Excel or WordPerfect file format. You would not need any additional software this would deliver the scan in the format you are looking for. And the customer would not need any OCR applications installed on anyone’s desktop PC. This would also give everyone in the office access to this capability. If the document is larger then the ADF capacity and they do not add pages while its being scanned they could use DeskTopBinder Pro. to assemble the final document no matter what the format is.
