Océ introduces two new revolutionary Gemini Technology printers
Instant duplex printers match customer demands in high production market
Poing, Germany, 6 March 2007 — Océ announces the introduction of two new cutsheet printers based on its unique Océ Gemini Instant Duplex Technology at the OpenHouse 2007. The new Océ VarioPrint 6160 and Océ VarioPrint 6200 simultaneously print the front and back of a sheet at 160 and 200 prints per minute respectively.
In March 2006, Océ introduced its first Gemini system, the Océ VarioPrint 6250, which began shipping in October 2006. The three systems are the only instant duplex printers on the market, making them the most productive and accurate way to print both sides of the paper. All three systems are available for immediate delivery.
Breakthrough performance in commercial and corporate environments
Both new systems are designed for quality-sensitive customers that put emphasis on achieving the shortest job turn-around time. The Océ VarioPrint 6160 is intended for monthly print volumes of 300,000 to 2.5 million whilst the Océ VarioPrint 6200 is aimed at environments with print volumes of 500,000 to 5 million per month. As of 2006, Océ Gemini Instant Duplex Technology changed the face of duplex printing with the Océ VarioPrint 6250. The new systems extend this unique technology to a wider range of customers. The single pass instant duplexing boosts productivity at print shops, quick printers, commercial printers and in-house corporate printrooms.

Now with three Gemini systems, corporate and commercial printers can choose exactly the capacity and total cost of ownership they need to match their workflow and customer demands. The availability of the Gemini Technology platform guarantees consistent quality and performance across various printers while maintaining maximum flexibility.

Clean and reliable instant duplex printing
Based on Océ Copy Press technology, the new Océ Gemini Instant Duplex Technology presses the toner directly into the front and back of paper at exactly the same time. The toner is fused at a much lower temperatures than with Xerography without waste or dust. This 50 percent lower fusing temperature ensures media does not curl or jam when put through the systems.
In addition to Gemini instant duplexing, the systems feature numerous technological innovations:
Perfect sheet positioning — A battery of sensors ensure perfect sheet positioning and print registration for books, manuals and other publications
Paper Logic — Automatically detects and adjusts for paper size and orientation so pre-printed and pre-punched media are printed correctly
Sophisticated media handling — 12 paper trays and printing of oversized and custom media allow long, unattended print runs and flawless production of special jobs

End-to-end modularity
The printers feature the Océ Smart Imager Controller, which brings high performance, multi-tasking capabilities, high RIP speed and open architecture to complement a company's IT infrastructure. Online finishing options include booklet makers and set finishers. The systems are fully supported by the Océ PRISMA™ software suite, designed to promote workflow efficiency and seamless integration in third-party printing environments.
