Océ enables Swiss Post Solutions to create personalized color services for customers
IT services provider upgrades transaction statement printing systems
Trumbull, CT -- June 8, 2010 – Océ, an international leader in document management, today announced that Swiss Post Solutions will deploy an Océ JetStream® 1000 full-color inkjet printer to create personalized color communications for business customers. The company sees significant growth opportunities in providing these transaction applications and intends to play an important role on the Swiss market.
Swiss Post Solutions services customers’ output management
Swiss Post Solutions, a division of Swiss Post, offers post-related services such as mailshots, customer cards, document digitalization and scanning, inter-office mail, archiving, comprehensive e-business solutions and consulting. As part of its operations, Swiss Post Solutions takes on the complete output management process for customers, including data preparation, printing, packaging, cost-optimized postage and electronic distribution. Digital printing has been part of the Swiss Post Solutions’ core business for 30 years. Its portfolio of flexible individualized customer communication includes traditional transaction printing, TransPromo/white space marketing and multi-channel output management.
“Customers ready and waiting,” says Thomas Estermann of Dialog Solutions
Thomas Estermann, Director of Technology Services Dialog Solutions/Document Output Unit, notes: “The first Swiss Post Solutions customers are in the starting blocks, ready and waiting to use TransPromo printing for their company communications.”
Océ JetStream offers customers on-demand color printing
With the Océ JetStream technology, Swiss Post Solutions plans to create the latest TransPromo applications for its customers, including invoices with color advertisements and illustrations and customer documents using the appropriate corporate branding. The ability to provide on-demand color printing will help the company eliminate preprinted offset inventories of forms and documents. Expensive warehousing will no longer be necessary, since digitally produced forms are always up to date, and paper usage goes down.
The Océ JetStream solution offered a number of advantages over competing systems. The system has the fastest inkjet printing heads in the industry, permitting monthly printing volume of up to 20 million pages or 1,010 DIN A4 pages per minute in duplex. Its power and versatility make it well suited to transaction, direct mail and TransPromo applications. It can also be upgraded with additional printing heads for six-color printing. Award-winning Océ DigiDot™ inkjet technology lets users optimize output quality based on the needs of the job. A print width of 20.3" and a paper width of 20.5" support a wide range of full-color production printing applications. The integrated Océ SRA MP controller enables fast, uninterrupted workflow for AFP/IPDS data streams which are often required in transaction and variable data environments.
Market enthusiastic about Océ technology
“Our decision to select Océ technology was preceded by extensive consultations with existing and new customers regarding the new solutions and associated orders for color,” says Thomas Estermann. “Another important part of the evaluation process was the early integration of employees.”
Color production starts this month
Color production on the new high-performance Océ JetStream 1000 printing system in the Swiss Post Solutions production center in Haerkingen (Switzerland) will commence in June 2010. A second installation I scheduled to follow within 12 months.
