Océ Combines its Largest U.S. Operating Companies
Océ Printing Systems USA and Océ-USA to become Océ North America
Chicago, IL, November 5, 2003 –Océ (Nasdaq: OCENY), a leading supplier of digital document management solutions, today announced that its two largest operating companies will be merged in a move to increase efficiency and improve customer service. Océ Printing Systems USA will be joined with Océ-USA into a single legal entity to be known as Océ North America effective December 1, 2003.
The President and CEO of the new company will be Ronald E. Daly. The company will operate with two divisions, Océ Digital Document Systems and Océ Wide Format Printing Systems. Tom Long, who has been President of Océ Printing Systems USA, will be President of the Océ Digital Document Systems division. Malkon S. Baboyian, current President of Océ-USA, will be President of the Océ Wide Format Printing Systems division. The new company will be headquartered in Chicago. The Océ Digital Document Systems division will be based in Boca Raton, FL, and Océ Wide Format Printing Systems will be in Chicago.
“This change brings us another step closer to the concept of One Océ. More and more of our large customers are seeking strategic partnerships with Océ to handle their document management on an enterprise-wide basis. These solutions require resources from the different divisions within the company. By aligning the divisions into one single legal entity operating on common systems, we are able to seamlessly deliver these complex solutions,” said Mr. Daly in making the announcement. “Also, we are able to reduce our costs by eliminating duplicated departments and the additional overhead of maintaining multiple corporations.”
The two divisions within Océ North America will share basic services such as human resources, information systems, and finance. Each division will maintain its own marketing and sales organization. The Océ Digital Document Systems division provides document management solutions for the office, central reproduction departments, data centers, and production printing environments. The Océ Wide Format Printing Systems division provides wide format document management solutions for technical document and display graphics applications.
Archer Management Services, a leading supplier of outsourcing solutions for document management, remains a wholly owned operating company of Océ-USA Holding. As a sister company to Océ North America, Archer is a leading supplier of on-site document management solutions and office support staffing, serving both Océ customers and organizations that are not using Océ devices or software.
