Ninestar attempting to avoid US ban
According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Ninestar is using slave labor to make print cartridges, printers and MFPs at one of its manufacturing plants in China, which led to a ban of these forced-labor products from being imported into the US.
- Some industry publications are claiming that Ninestar’s G&G division is getting around the ban by shipping via air into the US to avoid US customs
- Ninestar, headquartered in China, is suing the US gov for re-entry
- US law firm of Sidley Austin LLP delivered claim that the US Government’s evidence against Ninestar is “Virtually Non-Existent.”
- Lexmark, a division of Ninestar, announced that it is now sourcing products only from a Ninestar-owned plant in Juarez, Mexico, that does not use slave labor.
