CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., June 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Today NextDocs unveiled its Compliance Cloud for Azure – a next generation Microsoft Azure public cloud solution to redefine cloud-based content management applications for life sciences companies. Compliance Cloud for Azure enables global life sciences companies concerned about high-availability, data protection and security to have a robust, fully compliant environment in which to run their NextDocs Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform for Clinical Trials, Regulatory Document Management, and Quality Management Systems. All of NextDocs ECM solutions will be available on Microsoft Azure, including end-to-end platform qualification and validation.
Market pressures are forcing life sciences companies to drive higher returns from their technology investments. As a result, cloud-based deployments of NextDocs ECM have been growing significantly. NextDocs customer data show a 75 percent reduction in system deployment, upgrade and maintenance costs when choosing the Compliance Cloud versus an on-premise solution. Since NextDocs launched Compliance Cloud in 2012, the number of clients deploying to the cloud has surpassed those deploying an on-premise solution. In 2014, NextDocs anticipates over 60 percent of new clients will elect to deploy in the Compliance Cloud and a portion of existing on-Premises clients will migrate to the cloud in an effort to reduce costs.
"Customers have been choosing to modernize their legacy platforms with NextDocs since 2007 because we offer a complete enterprise solution, on an open and extensible platform, with a large and proven install base," said Matt Walz, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer for NextDocs. "Compliance Cloud for Azure extends the benefits of NextDocs onto Microsoft's cloud services platform, providing customers access to our solutions on a secure, compliant, and global cloud that is owned and managed by Microsoft."
Microsoft is one of the few major cloud vendor s to receive public validation (Article 29 Letter ) from all 28 national Data Protection Authorities that regulate companies with operations in the European Union. This provides a significant benefit to life sciences companies with global operations regarding concerns for adhering to EU data protection regulations. Customers on Microsoft's cloud can use the services knowing that any data transfers around the world meet the EU's data protection regulations, some of the toughest in the world.
"Trust, security and data protection are big factors for life sciences companies that, in selecting cloud deployments for compliance applications, have been asking for industry solutions which run on Microsoft's cloud platform," said Gabor Fari, Director of Business Development & Strategy, Health and Life Sciences, Microsoft Corp. "With Compliance Cloud for Azure, companies will be able to run NextDocs' industry-leading Enterprise Content Management solution on Microsoft's trusted and secure cloud platform."
