New Ricoh Unit Dedicated To Production Print
Ricoh's New Production Printing Business Group to Provide Solid Infrastructure for High-Volume Production Needs.

CHICAGO, September 10, 2007 – Ricoh Americas Corporation announced today the establishment of its Production Printing Business Group (PPBG), at GRAPH EXPO® 2007, being held in Chicago at the McCormick Place South from September 9-12. PPBG, located at booth #3046, was created to specifically focus on the unique, customer driven requirements of data center, in-plant and graphic arts environments.

Team Assembled
During the past several years, Ricoh has been preparing to enter the production printing market. Now, with a dedicated direct sales team, channel operations, and solutions engineers working to define, build, implement and support production solutions, customers have a new alternative as they evaluate vendor offerings. A portfolio of proven, and evolving monochrome and color products, and best-in-class alliance partners enables PPBG to the meet demands of production printing and publishing customers.

The development of PPBG began with the acquisition of Lanier in 2001, bringing with it an established direct sales and service organization. In 2004, Ricoh purchased Hitachi Printing Solutions, and its high duty cycle, cut-sheet and continuous-feed manufacturing facilities. PPBG has built on the infrastructure of these acquisitions to establish a new organization focused on production printing. In conjunction with the recently formed InfoPrint Solutions Company, a Ricoh / IBM joint venture, Ricoh is well positioned to provide customers with the broadest range of solutions and services in the production printing market.

Focused on Applications
PPBG will take an application-focused approach to the market, based on environment and industry. Understanding the unique requirements of production applications, leveraging evolving Ricoh and partner solutions, and focusing on service excellence will be key leverage points for the new business group.

"Ricoh has been investing in PPBG’s infrastructure for several years in preparation for this announcement. We have attracted some of the best, most experienced people in the industry, and are well positioned to offer our production customers a new alternative,” said Tim Vellek, vice president, PPBG, Ricoh Americas Corporations. “PPBG offers customers an exciting line-up of products and services, focused squarely on the needs of corporate in-plants, graphic arts, and data center environments, which will continue to evolve rapidly, particularly in the area of production color.”

PPBG Executive Slate
PPBG’s executive team is led by Tim Vellek, vice president, and Michael Benedict, vice president of Technology Services, managing pre-sales technical support, software engineering, and customer service and support. Carl Joachim, vice president of marketing, leads the product marketing, sales support and business development efforts.

“We are very excited about the formation of PPBG, as expanding Ricoh’s presence in the production printing market is one of our top corporate priorities worldwide. We see the continued development and expansion of production printing as a critical component of our future and it is our goal to become a leading provider of production printing solutions,” added Vellek.

The Production Printing Business Group (PPBG) of Ricoh Americas Corporation is dedicated to delivering state-of-the-art, high-speed production systems that provide efficient document workflows with high-volume production printing and finishing. Incorporating superior engineering, reliable technology, and extensive software and finishing options, PPBG helps production centers cost-effectively modernize and streamline their operations to meet today’s rapid turnaround and high-quality demands.

RICOH SHOWCASES PRINT PRODUCTION PRODUCTS
AT GRAPH EXPO 2007

CHICAGO, September 9, 2007 – Ricoh Americas Corporation is showcasing a wide variety of hardware and software solutions that help streamline document workflow in high-volume print production environments at GRAPH EXPO, being held September 9 to12 at the McCormick Place South in Chicago (booth #3046).

Production printing environments are becoming increasingly more advanced, driven by the increasing sophistication of customer needs. To address this trend, Ricoh today announced the establishment of its Production Printing Business Group (PPBG), designed to provide comprehensive print production solutions that adhere to the higher standards being set in the industry, streamline business operations, improve productivity and minimize costs for data center, in-plant and commercial graphic arts environments.

The Ricoh products on display at GRAPH EXPO are reliable and cost-effective with high-speed print engines and robust finishing capabilities, allowing users to meet mass-quantity, high-quality production demands while maximizing return on investment. Some of the highlights attendees at GRAPH EXPO will see in the PPBG booth include:

EMP 156
With advanced paper-handling technology and great print quality, the EMP 156 can easily produce 4.5 million images per month (ipm) at a speed of 156 ipm in either simplex or duplex mode. The 14-inch wide paper path accommodates printing on legal size documents also at full engine speed. The vacuum-fed input trays of the EMP 156 support a wide variety of media up to 14-inches wide by 18-inches long. Container stacker options supply precision-stacked output ready for near-line finishing devices that are used to produce booklets and other finished documents. Additionally, a Multiple Original Printing feature enables multiple set printing at full speed. Its industry-standard finishing interface allows it to adapt to various third party post-processing devices. The EMP 156 also supports multiple PDL’s and can adapt to a variety of environments such as commercial printing and data centers.

DDP 184
The DDP 184 is a leader in the emerging dual-engine printer technology. At 184 ipm, it is one of the fastest duplexing cut-sheet printers on the market. With the ability to add highlight color, in addition to Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR), the result is an exceptional printer that offers unmatched flexibility and speed. In addition, the DDP 184 is designed with customer replaceable consumables. Toner, developer, drum, and the fusing web can be replaced by the customer, maximizing uptime and increasing overall productivity. Coupled with forms, job queue, load balancing along with job splitting, the DDP 184 is an ideal fit for environments ranging from production to data centers.

Aficio® MP1350
Documents produced by the Aficio® MP1350 are among the highest quality in the industry today. The Aficio MP1350 is engineered with durability and reliability built in. This workhorse meets the rigid demands of the production environment. All critical components are manufactured to withstand the high productivity that is required in high-volume environments. By combining one of the fastest imaging speeds in the industry with very high image quality, the Aficio MP1350 expands the capabilities in the production environment. Users can program copy or scan jobs quickly and easily with the large, easy-to-read graphics on the touch panel display. Also, while traditional monochrome digital production devices can only scan black-and-white images, the Aficio MP1350 can scan color images as well, at exceptionally fast speeds, and then e-mail or forward them to an FTP site for easy distribution.

Aficio Color 5560
The Aficio Color 5560 sets the standard for high-speed consistent color printing in light production environments. This productive digital multifunction product (MFP) combines copying, scanning and printing, generating up to 55 color pages per minute (ppm). The system can be configured with a choice of two Fiery digital front-end controllers to provide advanced color and job management and advanced page programming functionality. The Aficio Color 5560 provides a number of versatile finishing and paper handling options, including cover interposing, professional booklet making with face-trimming and square fold and online punching for all common wire binding styles.

HQ9000 Priport
The HQ9000 Priport is a high-speed, cost-efficient, high-volume digital duplicator that delivers significant performance. Expediting the printing process at 135 ppm, the HQ9000 offers true 600 dpi resolution and unrivaled reliability. The HQ9000 Priport is the ideal solution for in-house print shops that produce documents at high volumes, require quality prints throughout the life of the printer, and desire a low total cost of ownership.

Priport DX 4640PD
As the world’s first duplex digital express printer, the Priport DX 4640PD combines high-speed printing with outstanding image quality to improve output efficiency and lower costs for businesses with routinely long print runs. The paper feeding mechanism, designed exclusively for duplex printing, streamlines the process and eliminates the need for ink drying and paper realignment, reducing the time required for double-sided printing by 43 percent. With a single-sided print speed of 135 ppm, the Priport DX 4640PD can also produce two-sided documents at 240 ipm, almost double the output of traditional digital duplicators.

“This year’s GRAPH EXPO show demonstrates the versatility and the advanced performance capabilities of Ricoh products, which not only exceed customer needs, but transform businesses in the production printing market across the country,” said Tim Vellek, vice president of PPBG, Ricoh Americas Corporation.
