Between July 1, 2011 and September 30, 2011, Ameritech Graphics will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sales of all Kyocera copiers and printers towards Freddie's "Ride for Hope" and will also match each portion to double the contribution dollars.
Ameritech Graphics has been a part of Freddie Hoffman’s rides for over 20 years. This year they have decided to take it one step further by bringing the ante up a level. One of Ameritech's principle owners, Dean Herr, has said it's time to show Freddie our continued support and respect by taking this fundraising initiative to the next level. We have always tried to do our part with a contribution, this year we'll bring our powerful Office Equipment Lineup into the mix by donating a portion of each sale!
ABOUT FREDDIE HOFFMAN:
Freddie Hoffman, a native of River Edge, New Jersey, loves to ride but his love of bike riding is due to personal challenges; at birth, he was oxygen deprived which caused severe brain damage and left him with immense learning disabilities. Due to those disabilities, he didn't have many friends growing up and teachers believed that he was unable to learn. His mother, Ruth E. Hoffman, took it upon herself to teach him how to read, taught him basic skills and tried to get him as much public education as she could. Because Freddie was 'different', bicycle riding was one way that he could escape from his loneliness and feel 'normal'. One afternoon in 1969 while watching Neil Armstrong step foot on the moon, inspiration struck; he vowed to set his own personal mission to ride 500,000 miles - which is the distance to the moon and back. When he hit his goal, he wasn't satisfied so he decided to double it and go for a million miles and he's kept on riding ever since. When his mother died of Leukemia in 1986, he decided to spend his summers travelling throughout the country, on his custom made bicycle, which he named "Ruth E" in her memory, to help raise money for Leukemia and Alzheimer’s research.
