In an effort to provide the best solutions to fit customer needs, Ricoh Corporation has partnered with eCopy, Inc. to offer their ScanStation OP touch-screen document solution and the NEW embedded eCopy ShareScan OP Embedded.

eCopy’s NEW ShareScan OP for Ricoh ESA enabled Aficio devices will offer the same highly integrated solution customers have become accustomed to and have and benefited from with the ScanStation OP. eCopy ShareScan OP will support from 1 MFP to 100 MFPs from a single eCopy ShareScan server. eCopy ShareScan OP represents the latest software for document distribution and integration from eCopy, and sets a new competitive standard for simple, secure, and cost effective electronic distribution of paper documents. "It provides greater ease-of-use and lower total cost of operation because of the single touch panel user interface being utilized at the MFP.

eCopy’s ScanStation OP is a combination of highly integrated hardware and software that brings the imaging power of Ricoh MFP’s to the customer’s fingertips. It’s large, color, touch screen provides an easy-to-use interface, giving users the option to preview their scans, rotate or delete pages, and encrypt their files before sending them out via email, network folder, fax server, or to an enterprise application. Additionally, the Quick Connect feature can easily automate workflow processes by enabling customers to create custom “scan to” buttons. Each ScanStation OP comes with maintenance and support, based on lease terms, and 10 licenses of eCopy Desktop software, a PC application that can be used for file viewing, annotation, OCR, integration capabilities, and additional distribution.

Canon's been offering eCopy like this for over a year now, the only catch is that you have to run a seperate server/pc on the network that manages the eCopy OP embedded software. Not a bad option of there are going to be more than 4 eCopy's sold. If its under that, the pricing tends to be more expensive for the embedded version. Also, if the client doesn't have an in house SMTP server, you will need to setup one independent of the eCopy server.

Just some extra thoughts, I sold Canon for 5 years, and when they released the embedded versions, they wiated 6 months to let us know all this info.
