The Ridley School Board approved a lease agreement Nov. 7 for the buy-out and replacement of all district and school building copiers.
Existing copier leases will be consolidated into one lease through TD Bank at an interest rate of 3.15 percent. The financial benefit of the proposed lease agreement is estimated at $279,287 over a five-year period.
The new copiers will provide scanning, printing, and copying services. Monthly reports will be provided to building administrators to track copier usage. Donald Otto, director of network services for the district, said this will result in an anticipated reduction in paper consumption as the district strives toward a greener environment in Ridley.
Superintendent of schools Lee Ann Wentzel announced that the district has been awarded a $15,000 Alcohol Education Grant from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. The grant is awarded to a local organization committed to making a significant difference in the community in preventing underage, binge and problematic drinking.
In a Student Achievement report, it was announced that Eddystone Elementary School will be honored at a Title 1 Conference in Pittsburgh in January for its Title 1 fourth grade science test achievement that boasts a 45 percent increase in scores.
The board also approved three out-of-state competitions for Ridley High School cheerleaders. The squad will compete at Bridgewater-Raritan High School on Jan. 8. The varsity squad will travel to Orlando, Fla. for the Nationals competition at the Wide World of Sports Convention Center Feb. 8-12, while the JV squad will attend a competition Feb. 25-26 in Ocean City, Md. 1See Full StoryReader Comments »View reader comments (0) » Comment on this story »
