NEW YORK, September 1, 2010 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging, today announced the addition of four new imageCLASS multifunction devices to its award-winning lineup of small office and home office solutions, the Color imageCLASS MF9280Cdn and MF9220Cdn color laser multifunction printers and the MF4570dn and D420 monochrome laser multifunction printers.

Color imageCLASS MF9200 Series - Greater Functionality For Demanding Environments
Developed to address the needs of today’s fast-paced end-user, the new Color imageCLASS MF9280Cdn and MF9220Cdn color laser multifunction printers allow small businesses and work groups to maximize productivity with convenient print, copy, fax and scan functionality in a fully networkable device.  Ideal for multi-user environments, the devices feature a variety of technologies found in many high-end commercial copiers to maximize office efficiency including “User ID Management” control, which allows network administrators to monitor and limit print output and an Auto-Duplex function to help reduce paper costs and increase productivity.  Additionally, for the first time from Canon, the Color imageCLASS MF9200 series features LDAP address book, allowing documents to be sent instantly.

Featuring a 50-sheet Auto Document Feeder (ADF), 250-sheet cassette plus 100-sheet multipurpose tray, and an optional 500-sheet paper cassette pedestal and handling paper sizes up to legal, the Color imageCLASS MF9200 Series delivers print speeds of up to 22 pages per minute (ppm)i in both color and black and white while capturing finer details with remarkable tone-on-tone clarity, auto gradation and Canon’s Pure Black technology.

Further enhancing the utility of the MF9200 Series is an innovative 3.5-inch color display with Easy-Scroll Wheel that provides effortless control over projects through a user-friendly menu.

Beyond the basic features of the MF9200 series, MF9280Cdn has the ability to perform PCL5c printing and is the first imageCLASS machine to be capable of handling PostScript 3 Emulation. Integrated USB ports provide the capability to both print and scan directly to and from USB media.  

imageCLASS MF4570dn - Enhanced Performance and Functionality
Targeting small businesses and home office users seeking a reliable all-in-one office solution, the imageCLASS MF4570dn enhances productivity and offers end-users Canon’s renowned quality and durability in an eye-catching piano black finish. Providing high-end features usually found in advanced printer models including duplex versatility, print and copy speeds up to 26 ppm, a 250-sheet front-loading paper cassette and an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), the new device simplifies office work while delivering significant value.  Utilizing Canon’s innovative on-demand fixing technology, the imageCLASS MF4570dn offers a quick first print time of approximately six seconds and an efficient energy saving system which lessens the machine’s warm-up time. 

Further expanding device functionality, the new imageCLASS MF4570dn features a new, five-line LCD control panel display, built-in Ethernet port and captures scanned documents in 24-bit color at an interpolated resolution of up to 9600 dots-per-inch (dpi) through the ADF or platen glass. The new devices use a 33.6 Kbps Super G3faxii for the rapid transmission of facsimile communications.

imageCLASS D420 - Extraordinary value and performance
Specifically designed for home and small office placement, the imageCLASS D420 offers an extraordinary blend of value and performance in a streamlined document solution. Built on a foundation that includes Canon’s legendary quality imaging technology, the imageCLASS D420 utilizes a simple, easy-to-navigate control panel to provide end-users with advanced functions including duplex versatility, print and copy speeds up to 23 ppm, 250-sheet front loading paper cassette as well as single-sheet multipurpose tray and an efficient energy saving mode utilizing approximately three watts of energy.  The compact imageCLASS D420 offers a quick first print time of approximately nine seconds.

imageCLASS Technology
To deliver high-quality prints and copies, each model incorporates the Canon Single Cartridge System, which combines the toner, drum and development unit in one easy-to-replace cartridge, resulting in excellent image quality retention and eliminating the complication and warehousing of separate toner and drum consumables.

The new imageCLASS models meet the ENERGY STAR guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Energy (DOE) and exceed the European Union RoHS Directive standards. Canon was named a 2010 ENERGY STAR “Partner of the Year” and is a strong advocate of educating consumers regarding energy-efficient products through its product labeling and environmental programs.

The Color imageCLASS MF9280Cdn/9220Cdn color laser multifunction printers will be available starting early to mid-November through retailers and Canon Authorized Dealers at a manufacturer's suggested price of $2,295 and $1,495, respectively.

The imageCLASS MF4570dn multifunction printer is scheduled to be available starting mid-October through retailers and Canon Authorized Dealers at a manufacturer's suggested price of $695.

The imageCLASS D420 multifunction printer is scheduled to be available starting on mid-October through retailers and Canon Authorized Dealers at a manufacturer's suggested price of $495.
