New ABBYY FlexiCapture Platform Redefines Data Capture Efficiency
London, UK (March 12, 2015) — ABBYY, a leading provider of document recognition, document capture, and linguistic technologies and services, today announced the new version of its intelligent data and document capture solution – ABBYY FlexiCapture. The newest enhancements to ABBYY FlexiCapture build upon the existing platform to deliver smarter, more efficient work with document-based business processes. Advanced web-based capture for deployment of distributed document processing, multi-channel document input, increased system usability, control and monitoring are just some of the latest improvement areas. The new FlexiCapture platform can also be extended with business-ready add-ons designed specifically to support invoice processing or mailroom digitisation processes.
ABBYY FlexiCapture is an enterprise software platform that helps organisations streamline their document-based processes through automated extraction of key data for use in a variety of downstream business systems. Organisations working with FlexiCapture can drive efficiency, address compliance needs, and gain better access to key data from a variety of document types ranging from mortgage documents, to tax returns, questionnaires, contracts, invoices, customer mail and more. ABBYY FlexiCapture reads data in more than 180 languages for printed text and more than 100 languages for hand-printed text, and scales from a standalone solution to enterprise-level project.
“From smarter business process automation, to greater safety of corporate data, to closer integration between business systems, the needs of our customers are constantly growing and changing,” explained Vladislav Kuzmin, director of the Data Capture Products Department at ABBYY. “Our latest platform enhancements are designed to address these demands.”
The new FlexiCapture includes the following key enhancements:
Advanced Web-based Capture Workflow for Distributed Capture Scenarios
ABBYY FlexiCapture supports distributed processing that enables organisations to input and capture documents from multiple points whether it is via mobile device or web-based interfaces accessible from remote locations, or multifunction devices (MFDs) on a central network. The latest enhancements include new tools for further improving this process such as integrating Web Scanning and Web Capture Stations into existing document management systems (DMS), allowing users to run Web Stations directly from within the interface of the DMS. Capture and input of documents is further enhanced through the ability to customise Scanning Stations with .Net scripting and the ability to specify common scanning settings across Scanning Stations.
Multi-channel Document Input with Processing of Digital Documents ABBYY FlexiCapture supports input of documents from a variety of channels. For organisations looking for efficient ways to address today’s compliance standards and regulations for storage and archiving of business information and communication, the new version offers enhanced e-mail capture capabilities which allow organisations to store original e-mails together with the batch of extracted data. Information about e-mail sender, recipient, date, time and subject can also be saved automatically, exported together with recognised data or be used during image processing if necessary. In addition, import from a POP3 e-mail server with SSL or TLS encryption is now supported.
More Efficient Data Validation with Enhanced Verification Station Once data has been extracted from documents, department staff can easily check and edit data as needed using ABBYY FlexiCapture Verification Station. The Verification Station interface has now added functionality designed to increase the efficiency and ease of this process. For example, the Verification Station, which already highlights key data fields that may require special attention, now suggests possible alternative values which are generated either through OCR results or input from available databases. Fields on a data form can now be grouped together logically under a common name (e.g. Provider Info, Billing Info, etc.) in order to help operators verify complex documents. A new database look-up dialogue box provides additional assistance during the validation process by making database record data easily accessible for operators.
Set-up and monitoring of “validation” rules have been enhanced with more flexible rule search, viewing, filtering and grouping options. Customers can quickly adjust the list of rules to optimise document management and export based on specific business requirements. Organisations can further customise additional settings such as the “field verification threshold” to assign the parameters which decide when data should be sent for manual verification or checking.
Enhanced System Monitoring and Administration
To further support security policies of modern organisations, FlexiCapture delivers additional visibility and control. New functionality includes recording of and central monitoring of login and logout events for audit trails and custom project reports; e-mail alerts for errors, permission requests, license expiration, and other key events; and detailed license information status views.
New PDF/A Export Functionality
ABBYY FlexiCapture now supports export of documents to PDF/A format directly from Scanning Station enabling more efficient archiving processes.
Business-Ready Invoice Processing and Mailroom Automation
ABBYY FlexiCapture can be extended with special add-ons for invoice and mailroom processing: ABBYY FlexiCapture for Invoices digitises, classifies and extracts key data from invoices, validates it according to built-in country-specific rules, and finally releases it into accounting, ERP and other backend systems. With intelligent classification and data extraction functionality, ABBYY FlexiCapture for Mailrooms automates the processing of inbound customer communication from any input channel, including post, fax and e-mail.
