Plano, Texas (June 1, 2009) - Muratec America, Inc., manufacturer of multifunction office equipment and business productivity solutions, and DocuLex, Inc., a leading developer of content management software, announce today an integration that enables users to seamlessly scan documents on Muratec MFPs and automatically index them into DocuLex Archive Studio content management application.
Designed for the Muratec MFX-2050, MFX-1450, F-565 and F-525, ScanTag enables users to enter indexing fields on the MFP touchscreen to facilitate document archiving into backend document management applications.
To utilize the ScanTag function a system administrator can register several metadata fields on the MFP using the intuitive browser interface. A user can then walk-up to the MFP, insert their document into the automatic document feeder and select [ScanTag]. Users can then enter the required indexing fields, choose the document file format (TIFF or PDF) and select [Start]. The document will be scanned and converted into the selected file format and the indexing fields will be converted into an XML data file, the format required by Archive Studio. Both files are delivered to a network folder, retrieved by Archive Studio and indexed.
An effective, affordable content management system for small business and departmental entities of all business and public sector entities, Archive Studio enables convenient colleague collaboration ability by providing easy information access to people working on projects in-house or remotely. The Web browser-based, information-imparting content management software facilitates the capture of paper and electronic documents and indexed for organization either in their native formats or PDF. Permission-based access is assigned to user's colleagues to add input, or to just view information an organization needs them to see. Any added content is monitored to track documentation revisions throughout the project's life.
Additionally, Archive Studio enables all email to be saved on an organization's server, with all body and attachment content organized and archived to assist in compliance with regulations including HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley. This accomplishes the goal of mitigating information loss and subsequent security risks in real-time, with complete information retention throughout each emails life cycle, regardless of any deletions at the PC-level. The automated process significantly reduces IT operations time and expense.
_Within companies of all sizes the demand is growing for content management solutions to oversee the retention and management of business-critical information,_ said Jim D'Emidio, President, Muratec America, Inc. _We believe DocuLex offers businesses a robust content management solution that is not only easy-to-use and cost-effective, but enables businesses to simplify their document workflow. By integrating Muratec multifunction solutions into an environment using Archive Studio, users have a convenient method of digitally capturing and indexing paper documents from within their individual workgroup._
