CHICO, Calif., Aug.  21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Association of Cloud & Managed Service Providers (MSPAlliance®, today announced it would be  addressing the issues of data privacy and security related to public cloud  computing at its MSPWorld® Fall Conference, to be held October 6-8 in San Jose,  California.

In response to recent government surveillance programs implicating public  cloud computing vendors, and including reports that the cloud, hosting, and  outsourcing providers could lose up to $180  billion in lost business as a result of these surveillance programs,  MSPAlliance believes there are practical and effective strategies IT service  providers can implement in order to safeguard against these unnecessary losses.

Several sessions at the MSPWorld Fall Conference will directly  address cloud security and privacy. In addition to the sessions at MSPWorld,  MSPAlliance will also be announcing a series of webcasts, as well as a series of  networking dinners designed to help service providers educate  the business consumer on matters of data protection, security and privacy.

"Recent reports that our profession may be harmed as a result of these public  cloud failures should not in any way reflect negatively on the valuable and  essential work performed by tens of thousands of cloud and managed IT service  providers across the globe," said Charles Weaver,  CEO of MSPAlliance. "The fact is, the actions of a few should not impugn an  entire profession. At MSPWorld we intend to vigorously debate this topic and use  our large and international megaphone to take a truthful and positive message to  the consumers of managed services and cloud."
