This was a topic of discussion in our office the other day. I had recently sold a customer 25 hours of block time for us to consultant and build MS 365 for one of our MFP customers.

We did not have any of their IT business. Our customer was not using MS exchange, and rather than getting a new server (they just used for file saving) they opted for MS365.

What came up is that one person stated that we are giving the business away to MS. The account has 10 users, we did not have any IT exposure and my question was how are we giving business away, especially when you read that most SMB accounts will be moving services to the Cloud. One recent report stated that 67% of all SMB customers will be using some cloud service by 2013.

Would like to hear from others on this.

Art....you are giving the business away because you could be hosting the exchange server for them and all the revenue would come to your company. With MS365 they are paying MS to have a piece of the cloud and be there host. You could control all of that many SMB's do not want anything to do with the cloud because of security and they want to have control.
