I saw this on Friday, seems almost 400 people were layed off from Ricoh USA. IA reports that more than 100 West Caldwell, NJ and they also indicated that Mike Dane is leaving.
It also seems that they might have been tryin to rid the IKON vs Ricoh mentality. Personally I have not heard from anyone that I know that was layed off. It's never good to hear this, but our industry is still contracting. Just wait until Canon merges OCE here in the states, it's not a question of will it happen, the only question is when?
below is a press release that tells more:
"Glastonbury's Ricoh Office will lay off 57 employees at the end of November, according to a letter filed with the Connecticut Department of Labor.
The layoffs in the company's Glastonbury office are part of a larger downsizing effort that includes shutting down a New Jersey branch. More than 70 employees will lose their jobs in that move, the letter states.
The company's website says that Ricoh is encouraging customers to use its self-service, online customer services. Up to now, many of those services have been handled by phone in the Glastonbury office. In addition, collections work currently done in Glastonbury will be moved to Macon, Ga., according to a company spokesperson.
The office digital equipment and electronics business, located at 855 Winding Brook Drive, broke the news to its employees on Monday".
Glad I work for a dealer!
