Minolta Di520

I would put a 2045 in at that volume if I had to. I would prefer a 1055 or 1060 but I don't feel I would be doing the customer or my service dept. a disservice by placing a 2045. 5 years is 1.8 million copies which I think a 2045 can do.

Di520 is digital (I believe it was Minolta's first 50CPM/ppm digital).

Most initial digital offerings from any of the manyufacturers that had a print controller were very slow and never came close to the advertised print speed! reps were reluctant or did not know enought to add the hard drive or increase the memory.

There is a good chance that the Minolta prints very slow. If that is the case you will have a very strong position when you explain the state of the art technology, the standard HDD and the standard amount of memory that is now included. I would also make mention of the RPCS driver that will increase the print processing time to your customer.

They may have had a print job that spooled for 5 - 9 minutes on the Minolta Di520, now they will lower that too 2-4 minutes or less. This will then compensate for the slower overall print engine.

If the customer is interested in the document server they will be able to do alot more with the 2045 than the 1060.

Ask your self or the customer will the copy or print volume increase in the next few years? If so, move to the 1060.

With 360K per year, you will be pushing the volume on the 2045, why not affer a 4510 plus a 2045esp. This will give them 90ppm in the print mode, still give them the "off the glass" requirements and reduce the volume among the two systems.

With all of our software offerings I would be asking alot of questions about invoices, faxing, printing etc.

the 520 may have been the first of Minolta's digital systems but it was a workhorse. Th finishing unit woule do folding. I'd go with the 60...the capabilities of the doc server as well as printing speed, duplexing speed, the scanning all are value added vs. the 520

Thanks for the input everyone, this is for a small private school. Their minolta isn't even connected for printing. They just want a basic workhorse machine.

Basic workhorse unit, the 1055 is hard to beat.
