Microsoft to launch Universal Print
- announced Universal Print and its private preview to developers
- meant to eliminate the need for on-premises print servers, and even the need to install printer drivers on your PC
- takes Windows Server print functionality and moves it to the cloud via Office365
- Admins can view all of the Universal Print printers through a dashboard on Azure
- can manage the printers remotely
- can create security groups for printer/MFP access
- location-based printer discovery
- printer or MFP must supports Universal Print (not yet available)
- Canon is reportedly already planning to offer
- Will require Windows
