Just curious:
Does your company have a required number of calls per day for each sales rep?

If so, what is it?

How is it measured?

Do phone calls count? What if they leave a voice mail, does that count?

How about direct mail, does that count?

Do customers count, or only prospects?

All input is greatly appreciated!

Since we have experienced reps, management lets us do what we want as long as we are making the numbers!

When numbers are not made, we are then required to make at least 100 phone calls per week.

In reference to measuring the amount of phone calls made, the phone system will report on amount of calls made from each line.

Yes, phone calls do count!

No, they donot count direct mail.

everyone counts as long as you made the call!

It seems that the general consenus is that business has slowed somewhat, either everyone else is catching up to Ricoh, or the demand is slowing somewhat.

All the more reason to find software solutions that will entice the customer to upgrade or being able to consut a print analysis for the customer.

As stated before my best success comes from finding customers who are not in the market! Also over the years I have placed many systems and where I was not concerned about "how much I made" rather how many units I placed. I knew down the road they would need to upgrade and my chances for larger commissions would be increased as long as the account was serviced properly.
Normally, I don't track much as long as the numbers are there. A weekly calendar month and 90 day forecast every Monday is all that is required. I've worked metro areas as well as rural and the expected number of calls have varied accordingly but I am big on a weekly, hit no matter what number of calls. I prefer weekly so that it is harder to come up with excuses for failure. My number, in this rural territory is 80 face-to-face calls per week...a number that is doable even if you're sick a day or have lots of appointments. I tell them to shoot for 20/day and if successful you have all day Friday for paperwork or an afternoon off.
If they fall below 80% of quota Year-to-Date they go on the PRA (Programed Recovery Assistance) Program and life becomes miserable...daily call reports, meetings with management, required reading, no time off, etc.
