Leveraging aptiQ readers provides simple migration path to enhance security credentials

Matrix Systems, an access control and security solutions provider with a reputation built on service and long-term customer relationships, today announced that its Frontier access control and security management platform supports aptiQ multi-technology readers from Ingersoll Rand.
Current and future Matrix customers benefit from this strategic initiative. End users now have the opportunity to migrate from current mag stripe readers to more advanced card reader technologies without the need to rebadge or invest in additional access control hardware. The open architecture technology integration also allows Matrix to provide a broader range of technology options to better serve customers with stronger credentialing solutions.

Ingersoll Rand’s open, highly secure aptiQ multi-technology readers handle magnetic stripe, proximity and smart credentials to deliver users a simple migration path to higher credential levels, including various forms of proximity, MIFARE Classic and MIFARE DESFire EV1. The readers are also NFC-compliant to provide a migration path to mobile credentials in the future as needed.

“aptiQ readers meet the access control needs of virtually any application while providing users the ability to expand and upgrade credential technologies as their security profile evolves,” said Jeremy Earles, Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies Product Marketing Manager, Readers and Credentials. “The integration with Frontier is an important step toward delivering customers more flexible and scalable identity management options.”

Robust, reliable and secure, Frontier delivers a comprehensive access control and security management solution backed by renowned service and technical support from Matrix Systems. Frontier’s open architecture design enables seamless integration with leading third-party technologies including video management, biometrics, electronic locks and readers and visitor management systems to provide customers a comprehensive security management solution.

“The access control integration allows customers to enjoy the benefits of a truly open architecture platform using aptiQ technology and, ultimately, to create a more efficient security workflow to meet specific organizational and security requirements,” said Walter Helm, Chief Technology Officer, Matrix Systems. “Now our customers who intend to migrate their badge technologies over time have a cost-effective and scalable option.”
