I have a customer who has uncovered a strange situation for which I'm trying to find a resolution.  The initial complaint was that all printing to the Savin MPC3003 is taking a long time.  In trying to duplicate the problem I was able to identify at least 1 known issue that I can reproduce.

When trying to print a 16MB PowerPoint presentation from their Mac OSX 10.10.4 with the PostScript driver the document takes over 5 minutes just to RIP the job.  If you look in the print queue it takes a long time for the application to even deliver the job to the print spooler and then it says "copying print data" for what seems like forever.  However, if I print the job with the generic PCL driver it works fine (but it limits color capability and other print features).  The same file printed from a Windows PC with PCL6 driver is no problem.  I have also reproduced the problem with a MacBook Air 10.10.4 and a Mac iBookG4 10.4.11.

It seems to be a Mac/PostScript issue.  I don't know if it has something to do with the PPD or what but I'm looking for some resolution other than just saying it's a Mac issue.  I have exported the file as a PDF and still have issues.  Interestingly enough, if I export the file as JPGs I can print the slides without a problem.

One would think, Adobe (PDF) + Mac + PostScript everything should be good.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Art, that was my initial thought.  However, the problem is with the RIP, the MFP is doing what it is told...the problem is the information is just taking too long to get to it.  I'm still working on it, gathering information so that when I call the hotline again I'll be better prepared.  I'm in the process of recreating this in our office.  It took 16 minutes to print the 17 page PowerPoint.
