MAC & PostScript

It's my understanding that it's necessary to have PostScript in order to print from MAC. My stupid question is in a mixed environment can you configure a work-around by printing through a PC setting it up as a shared printer?

I don't think so, but I don't want to be adding thousand dollar PS options unnecessarily.
