HP does not require costly service contracts. Instead, customers are encouraged to decide what level of support best meets their business needs.
This seems like a bunch of Bull and double talk, on hand hand they are saying not take support and then on the other they are saying to take the best level of support that meets your needs!
We are changing the game today," Joshi explained. "We have spent the last few months working with our customers to develop a breakthrough approach for copiers. This is a fundamentally different approach, one that will change the game. We believe that the 4345mfp will get us 10 per cent of market share in the copier space."
Incredible statement, could it be true?
A few things I have found
[LIST]
Lets look at the average user of 45ppm system, I would say the average volume is 12K per month, thus representing a volume of 144,000 copies per year. 5 year life cycle would represent almost 750,000 pages.
Lets use a average cpc of .0125 for our 2045 and estimate that the cost for the HP 4345 is .0195 with apples to apples.
That leaves a a difference in the cpc cost of .007 per page. Based on the life cycle of 750,000 pages, the HP customer will spend an extra $5,250!
From the surface the 4345 seems great! However the base model does not duplex copy, it copies at only 600 dpi, the copy speed is upto 600 dpi (something is not right with that), the standard paper supply is 600 pages, the ADF is 50 pages (NO RADF), no fax, FCOT is under 10 seconds! (That means it is over 9.5 and under 10 seconds) that is an eternity to wait in this segment of the market.
The weight of the unit is only 113 lbs, my goodness! I crap bigger than that
There are four models, the base model is the 4345 MFP (NO FAX), the 4345xmfp (analog fax and color scanning, max paper is 1,100), 4345xsmfp (adds out put stack and staple), 4345xmmfp (adds mailbox function, still only 1,100 sheets.
As of this time I do not have pricing on the other systems.
I would tend to think that these units will be popular with IT managers, those who swear by HP, and those who are non-educated buyers (price buyers).
I believe this is a product we can beat every day of the week, the HP4345 will be a strong contender but has many weaknesses. Lets try and find out as much as possible and post it here in this forum. When we have enough infor I will design a "How2Beat the HP4345MFP" from the P4P Hotel.
Would like to hear from you all.
