SmartNet Accounting Program or (SNAP). SNAP is a single-device reporting program that utilizes the user code functionality of SmartNet Monitor and/or the display panel of the MFP. SNAP generates a user detail report and a summary report enabling our customers to charge their end users or customers for the copy, scan, outgoing fax, and print features of the MFP. Please take special note that at this time SNAP is a Lanier only product and available only to the Lanier family! Therefore, SNAP presents a tremendous opportunity for Lanier sales representatives to differentiate themselves from their competition.

This may be different from something Ricoh is launching this month called gWare but it may be the same. It is embedded in the unit and sends User Code data to a central server. I know about it because of a 54 unit bid that was helped by this information. However, some things that was important for me to know and may be true with Lanier also: 1.) Must be GW Architecture machine...know 1018's or 1055's. 2.) 1022/1027 must have the HDD added. 3.) There cannot be anyother embedded software like DocuMall or Global Scan. One other thing that may be an issue...I'm doing mine with Printer Cost and Security Manager, not SmartNet Monitor. Is it not true of Smartnet Monitor that you cannot change the User Code of the PC without uninstalling and reinstalling the driver? If that is true, you couldn't have a different code for each customer for billing purposes. You can assign print codes (as opposed to user codes) with PCSM. Ricoh's Gware will retail for $695 per unit. [This message was edited by Docusultant on Fri May 09 2003 at 06:45 AM.]
