Kyocera Mita America Receives Common Criteria Certification for TASKalfa Color MFP’s Data Security Kit
Certification Supports Kyocera’s Continued Commitment to Protect Confidential Information and Documents
FAIRFIELD, N.J.-Kyocera Mita America, one of the world's leading document solutions companies, today announced that it has been awarded ISO 15408 (Common Criteria) Certification for Data Security Kit (E) for its award-winning color multifunctional products (MFP), the TASKalfa 500ci, TASKalfa 400ci, TASKalfa 300ci and TASKalfa 250ci.
“Common Criteria certifications are internationally recognized and provide a high level of confidence in a vendor’s security claims”
Data Security Kit (E) meets Evaluation Assurance Level 3 (EAL3) requirements, conforming to the standards set forth and known as Common Criteria (v. 3.1). This certification symbolizes Kyocera’s commitment to providing innovative products and solutions that meet the security initiatives and requirements of today’s business. These Kyocera TASKalfa MFPs enable organizations to protect their confidential documents, information and assets, while providing a reliable deterrent to unauthorized activity and access. Data Security Kit (E) is the latest security kit option to achieve ISO 15408 certification.
"Common Criteria certifications are internationally recognized and provide a high level of confidence in a vendor’s security claims,” said Peter Cybuck, senior director, security and software solutions for Kyocera Mita America. “Security is a high priority at Kyocera, and these new security certificates provide strong evidence of the Company’s commitment to offering secure office solutions that have achieved independent evaluation and certification."
Taking an aggressive step toward ensuring its customers can meet both compliance requirements, as set forth by Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), HIPAA, or other federal government mandates, as well as stringent data security needs to ensure secure printing, sending and coping of highly confidential materials, Kyocera Mita America has added critical enhancements to its Data Security Kit, including Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Overwriting and Data Encryption. Data Security Kit (E) will overwrite all data on the standard HDD at the device level immediately after each copy, print and scan job is completed. Additionally, with fast and efficient encryption at the HDD included in the process, both the data management table and image data are eliminated; further ensuring data integrity is maximized.
The new Data Security Kit (E) is also compatible with Kyocera Mita America’s TASKalfa 552ci color MFP, as well as the TASKalfa 520i, TASKalfa 420i and TASKalfa 300i B&W MFPs). The Data Security Kit is currently under evaluation with these products and should achieve ISO 15408 certification in the near future.
This Common Criteria certification reinforces Kyocera’s commitment to protecting confidential business documents and information with comprehensive security solutions. Kyocera’s dedicated security team has developed and continues to develop trusted and reliable security solutions to meet the expanding security requirements of its customers and to keep Kyocera products at the forefront of document security. Recent Kyocera security developments include:
Secure Printing – Allows users to securely print documents on any network printer or MFP from their PC and release the print job at the device by entering a personal identification code, eliminating the threat of unauthorized personnel seeing confidential print jobs in open trays.
AccessLock – Through Active Directory Authentication, AccessLock allows network administrators to provide the use of device functions based on parameters set for each individual or work group. By allowing individuals to use tasks necessary for their job function while curtailing access to other device functions, AccessLock enables companies to promote responsible device usage while addressing a broad range of user needs.
