FAIRFIELD, New Jersey – October 25, 2007 - Kyocera Mita America, one of the world's leading document solutions companies, today introduced the KM-3060 and KM-2560, two new monochrome multifunctional products (MFP) for the small-to-medium business (SMB) and workgroup environments. Each offer standard network printing, color scanning and copying capabilities, as well as an array of options, including network fax and Internet faxing, and a series of document capture and management solutions. By introducing the KM-3060 and the KM-2560, Kyocera offers an affordable solution that allows SMB and workgroup environments to effectively meet their document imaging needs.
By delivering high performance capabilities with output speeds of 30/25 pages per minute (PPM) for the KM-3060 and KM-2560 respectively, crisp 600 x 600 dpi resolution with 256 levels of grayscale, and standard network color scanning, Kyocera maintains its reputation for delivering versatile imaging products and high-levels of document quality; allowing users to work better, faster and smarter.

“Today’s businesses rely on obtaining, sharing and sending immediate information and resources efficiently and securely in order to be more productive and profitable,” said Victor Moro, product and solutions marketing manager, monochrome MFPs, Kyocera Mita America, Inc. “We believe that the KM-3060 and KM-2560 allow organizations to be more competitive in today’s economy, based on the value-added features available with the KM-3060 and KM-2560. Our goal has always been to deliver reliable, high-quality products that increase productivity, incorporate added functionality to maximize IT spending, and offer a significant customer choice — and the KM-3060 and KM-2560 are multifunctional solutions that meet these objectives.”

Both new models feature an integrated USB Host Interface, designed to enhance performance, ease of use and security. The USB Host Interface allows users to install a USB flash drive at the control panel and print their PDF documents directly from the touch screen interface. For businesses concerned with document confidentiality, the KM-3060 and KM-2560 offer an optional Data Security Kit (C). This data security kit helps companies meet the privacy demands of today’s digital office environments by overwriting and encrypting documents stored on the standard 80GB Hard Disk Drive providing companies with a secure document solution.

To enhance workgroup collaboration between end-users, Kyocera’s KM-3060 and KM-2560 have the ability to consolidate, share and store both scanned and hard copy pages and digital documents. Kyocera’s Document Box function addresses this need; enabling users to save scanned or printed documents to a designated Box on the MFP, for easy retrieval and processing directly from the MFP’s color touch screen interface.

Seeking to reduce costs for the end-user and eliminate standalone facsimile, the Kyocera KM-3060 and KM-2560 also offer an optional fax system, which support traditional fax, network fax from the PC and internet fax communications. With the optional fax system installed, users can send and receive faxes both at the device or from any networked desktop computer. The ability to send a fax directly from the desktop eliminates the need to print the document first and then fax, therefore eliminating unnecessary paper waste and reducing overall office costs.

In addition, both models are fully compatible with Kyocera’s optional document solutions, including:

• iTag, Kyocera’s user-friendly document management solution which allows users to capture, store, share and retrieve electronic documents at the touch of a button;

• KYOcapture Express, a simplified document capture workflow solution designed for small to medium sized businesses allowing users to capture paper documents, index and OCR them for full-text search capabilities directly from the MFP; and

• KYOcapture powered by AutoStore, a large workgroup/enterprise document capture workflow solution which enables select Kyocera MFPs to seamlessly capture, process and route paper or electronic-based documents to multiple locations and document management systems.

Thanks for the link, I've been waiting to see what these machines were going to look like. We were told that they were suppose to be available this summer, now they tell us October. One thing that I'm worried about, there are going to be two versions of the Copystar's, the full boat models as shown on your link for regular dealers and a wholesale version w/o networking for the trunk slammers.

This product released today. At first glance it appears that the 30 CPM model is only about $500 less than the KM3050. Maintenance cyle is 200K less than the KM3050, but the MK is about the same price. It also appears the toner is quite a bit more expensive.

We're starting to have difficulty with upgrade costs on existing leases with customers that aren't interested in printing. They should basically be giving the print feature away. After all, it only creates the possibility of the customer using more toner and maintenance kits and takes those revenues away from competing brands like HP.

You are right on about pricing, it sucks. I stayed up late the other night to take the on-line training so we could start selling these ASAP before I saw the pricing. Wow, what a waste of my time, why would I want to sell this vs a F3 when the F3 has Dual Scan, better yields, is heavier duty and for the most part proven reliability and only a $500.00 difference? Kyocera better get it's house in order with this one or these machines will be collecting dust in the warehouse. The stripped down versions (2540/3040) when they come out may help in the pricing area, but we will have to wait a while on those I guess.

The 25 ppm model is about $1,200 more than the KM2550.
Toner cost per page is a little higher on these than both the KM-3050 and KM-2550.

While this is a more rugged 25 ppm machine, I believe the more popular trend of the industry will increasingly be smaller, faster and cheaper. The middle range of large machines will disappear.
We will have desktop machines with a standard 500 sheet capacity at or near 50 pages per minute. Most offices do not even use 11x17 now.
Most of those that do use it now only use it on occasion and probably could do without it with the right pricing difference.
Kyocera needs to figure out their direction with this stuff. We need a combination of lower end, high productivity and low introductory cost machines and high end, low operating cost solutions.
Enabling higher speeds on lower end equipment gets more equipment placed in lower volume environments and directs the traffic to the most productive (fastest) item in the office. Additional traffic=additional supplies=additional revenue for us and KMA.
