Konica Minolta released an official statement regarding certain bizhub and magicolor printers. Konica Minolta bizhub C35, bizhub C35P, magicolor 4750DN and magicolor 3730DN printers sold in Australia between June 2010 to April 2011 may, in very rare circumstances, experience smoke emissions or fire in the machines due to insufficient insulation in the duplex unit. This may result in burns or irritations to the eyes, skin or respiratory system. Konica Minolta has decided to implement a voluntary product recall of these printer models.
“We are currently in the process of contacting all customers and inspecting and modifying all affected printers,” the statement read. “If your machine has (a) green sticker marked on the rating label, it has already been inspected and is safe to continue using.
“If there is no green sticker, Konica Minolta will inspect and modify, free of charge, the listed products to prevent this from occurring and to ensure the machine is safe for use. To arrange for this service and modification, please call us on our toll-free number – 1800 789 389.
“All distributors and dealers have now been notified of the defect. They should immediately cease selling or making available for product these affected Printers and arrange to have them inspected and modified prior to further sale. Additionally, we are asking all dealers to notify customers who have purchased these Printers to arrange to have them inspected and modified by a service technician.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by the issue and appreciate your understanding in this matter."
