Konica Minolta Introduces i-Option

Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta), a leading provider of advanced imaging and networking technologies for the desktop to the print shop, today unveiled two new MFP options that further enhance the productivity and security capabilities of Konica Minolta’s comprehensive line of multifunctional products (MFPs – print, copy, fax, and scan all-in-one system). The newly introduced LK-101 i-Option and LK-102 i-Option, developed by Konica Minolta will allow Web access and document manipulation from an MFP control panel (LK-101) and also support enhanced PDF encryption – meeting the highest requirements of the U.S. Government (LK-102).

The new i-Option features will further build upon the extensive security, printing, copying and scanning features found on the next-generation line of Konica Minolta bizhub™ MFPs (bizhub C650, bizhub C550, bizhub C451, bizhub C353, bizhub C253, and bizhub C203). The LK-101 i-Option targets all users looking to further enhance their MFP capabilities to include the convenience of accessing the Web directly from the MFP’s Image Panel – a new control panel from Konica Minolta that provides document management capabilities from the MFP. The LK-102 i-Option, targeting security-demanding environments, offers AES 128-bit encryption for extensively secure environments, such as U.S. Government accounts.

“i-Option is a unique new offering for Konica Minolta’s award-winning line of bizhub devices that will offer our customers the ability to derive even greater value out of their investment in our products,” said Kevin P. Kern, vice president, marketing and product planning, Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. “It also demonstrates the flexibility and extensibility of the bizhub OP system architecture as these new enhancement kits are software-based, and can be added without having to replace

the hardware.”

Original Post
As a KM dealer I was aware of these i-Options. The security i-option is a saleable benefit for those seeking 128 bit encryption and requiring secure documents. But, try as I might, the saleable benefits of being able to use the screen as a web browser escape me.
I was taught a long time ago, by our former sales manager to “sell the sizzle, not the sausage”.
I know the Features, but can anyone can give me some Advantages and Benefits of this?
