RAMSEY, NJ -- 03/17/10 -- Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta) today announced it has migrated more than 7,000 U.S.-based employees to Google Apps Premier Edition, the messaging and collaboration suite from Google, as part of an effort designed to leverage a common, Web-based communications platform.

The roll-out of the new system, which began as a pilot program in October 2009, will be completed in March 2010. The platform will provide new collaboration options, decrease IT support requirements and improve efficiencies for employees in the home office and in the field. The migration to Google Apps Premier Edition allows Konica Minolta to move users from multiple unique Email systems onto one common platform. In only the first few months of the migration, Konica Minolta has seen the following:

Early adopters have made great use of Google Sites™ to easily share documents and key information. More than 40 sites have already been built to track progress of project plans and communicate project status.
With Google Docs™, collaboration has become faster and easier, as a single version of the document is stored for all to view and edit. The most recent version of a document no longer has to be downloaded and edited locally, saving bandwidth and time.
Google Talk™ has provided fast access for employees to communicate on quick questions or updated information.
Google Calendar™ has received rave reviews for ease of use.
Enhanced Search capabilities have improved the ability to find emails and calendar events.
"We chose to move our communications platform to the cloud in order to more easily support our entire workforce, including our large group of mobile users, while introducing new collaboration tools faster than ever before," said Nelson Lin, CIO and VP, Information Technology Services, Konica Minolta Business Solutions, U.S.A., Inc. "We anticipate a significant return on our investment in both cost savings and increased innovation."

"We are thrilled Konica Minolta has gone Google," said Dave Girouard, president of Enterprise, Google. "The effort to move their employees from multiple email systems to Gmail has been successful, and they now have anytime, anywhere access to information and cutting edge collaboration tools that will dramatically increase productivity."
