Ramsey, N.J. – March 25, 2009 – Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta), a leading provider of advanced imaging and networking technologies for the desktop to the print shop, today announced the availability of the bizhub® PRO 950. The advanced, monochrome production print system can produce everything from corporate reports and booklets to flyers and manuals at high speeds, with long-running capability and flexible auto-finishing.

The bizhub PRO 950 system provides end-users access to industry-leading print management capabilities. The newest system in Konica Minolta’s award-winning line of monochrome production print systems incorporates seamless interfaces to Konica Minolta's Printgroove® Production Suite and later this year will also support EFI's advanced MicroPress 8 solution making the bizhub PRO 950 an ideal end-to-end print management system. In addition, PageScope Web Connection allows IT administrators to easily combine the bizhub PRO 950 system on one network to increase productivity.

"The bizhub PRO 950 system enables print professionals to deliver high quality on-demand production printing with superior reliability," said Kevin Kern, Vice President, Marketing, Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. "Perfect for short-run, on-demand print jobs, the newest monochrome workhorse from Konica Minolta provides quality output at a highly competitive total cost of ownership."

Operation of the bizhub PRO 950, which prints at 95 pages per minute, is simplified by a standard large LCD display providing details on all functions, intuitive menus and a thumbnail document preview allowing prints to be viewed before actual printing. The system provides an array of cost-effective, auto-finishing options to increase output, and its 750,000-page monthly duty cycle, combined with toner bottle yields of up to 80,000 impressions on media as light as 11 lb. bond, or as heavy as 170 lb. index, make it a highly flexible workflow center in a compact footprint.

The bizhub PRO 950’s output doubles to 190 ppm with standard tandem printing capability, and it can create saddle-stitched trimmed booklets, staple documents in eight different positions, 2/3-hole punch, and even add pre-printed color covers or inserts post-process. Additionally, the heavy duty metal paper drawers accept paper sizes up to 11"x17", while the bypass and optional large capacity tray accepts up to 12"x18" paper size.

Konica Minolta is committed to the protection of the environment and reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and the bizhub PRO 950 continues that corporate pledge as it has already achieved Energy Star certification. Furthermore, the bizhub PRO 950 utilizes Konica Minolta’s proprietary Simitri® polymerized toner which uses smaller, more uniform particles to improve detail and definition. This advanced technology also allows Konica Minolta products to reduce toner consumption by more than 30%. The production process that creates Simitri polymerized toner generates nearly 40% less carbon dioxide – reducing output of a gas that contributes to global warming.

Witness firsthand the award-winning technology from Konica Minolta at the 2009 ON DEMAND Conference and Exposition (March 30 through April 2) at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Penn. At first glance the PRO 950 is now a slowed down version of the Pro1050. There will also be the new PRO1200 there. The one I'd love to see is the C65hc. From what I hear is will knock your socks off. Please, whoever is going, report back on what's there and who seems to be getting a leg up.
The PRO 1200 series will be available in August 2009 and replaces the PRO 1050. It has a Belt Transfer System and will fill a huge void in the marketplace.

The new PRO C65hc is going to be a game changer! Perfect for packaging / shipping outlets, direct-mail, photo books, etc. and the color output is impressive.

No evidence of Ricoh or the C900 at ON DEMAND that I could find. Anyone else?

Ricoh was not there this year, along with Sharp, Ikon, Toshiba, Kyocera.

Who was there: Infoprint/Ricoh, OCE, Xerox, Canon and Panasonic
yup, I made the mistake of them telling them the P4P Hotel gets an average of 80,000 page views a month, and they had three marketing people on me and kept for an eternity, plus they just had to show me Prismasync, boy was that boring......, they only thing good is that the person showing me the system was a very nice blonde from the Netherlands, couln't understand a word she said with the accent, however I really didn't care.

I'll be posting the lead blog here and then the full blog on P4P Suites in a few days!
