The chairman of Abilene’s Convention and Visitors Bureau said a federal omnibus measure has $300,000 for a feasibility study about celebrating the Chisholm Trail in a way that could have economic incentive for Kansas.

Jeff Sheets, who is director of the Dickinson County Heritage Center and a board member for Historic Abilene Inc., which oversees Old Abilene Town, said the goal through a feasibility study that would touch multi-states was to have the Chisholm Trail be marked as national trail, which is similar to what has occurred with the Oregon Trail.

Recommended approval on a lease-purchase for a new Konica Minolta copy machine for lease-purchase for up to five years for $216.58 a month. The bid will be forwarded to the city commission for its consideration, Purkis said. If accepted by the commission, the copier will replace a machine that is more than 10 years old.
