RAMSEY, NJ - December 11, 2003 - The ability to transform paper documents into electronic documents via scanning, which can then be shared and stored, is an office application that is gaining popularity among networked offices. With the new PageScope Router v1.5 from Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (KMBS), customers using Minolta digital multifunctional products (MFPs - a hardware unit that has some combination of copy, print, scan, fax and e-mail capabilities) have access to a solution that is focused on moving scanned data quickly, efficiently and effectively for the customer, reducing time, steps and space in the office.
PageScope Router streamlines the document distribution process in networked office environments - large or small. This optional Windows application automatically routes hard-copy scanned (multi-page) documents (i.e. photos, schematics, reports) to predetermined destinations (e-mail, FTP, document management systems) while adjusting image quality and file formats along the way.
"Hard copy documents can be delivered to hundreds of final destinations in one easy step and in a matter of moments, not days or hours," said Amy O'Hara, solutions marketing manager for KMBS. "With its one-step scan and distribute capabilities, PageScope Router eliminates the need for expensive overnight courier services, does away with poor quality faxed documents and quickly delivers documents to remote workers. Version 1.5 includes features that make it easier than ever to share documents and track their distribution; even program administration has been streamlined."
What is PageScope Router?
PageScope Router is a software application that resides on a Windows PC. There is both administrator software for public routing of documents and end-user software (called Document Manager/Viewer) for desktop PC viewing and annotating image files and private routing of documents.
The PageScope Router software supports up to 100 MFPs and will work with any MFP that supports scan to FTP and scan to e-mail capabilities. This means that an environment with MFPs from different manufacturers may use PageScope Router to enable scanning from all their MFPs, so long as the non-Minolta MFPs support scan to FTP and scan to e-mail capabilities.
PageScope Router Benefits
Lower Distribution Costs: PageScope Router can lower document distribution costs by eliminating the costs associated with fax and courier services. Once scanned, documents may be stored electronically, which reduces paper and storage costs. In addition, scanning from an MFP eliminates the need for desktop scanners.
Increase Productivity: PageScope Router lets businesses scan and share mission-critical paper documents at network speeds helping to improve the flow of information throughout an organization. It can automate the distribution of documents helping to speed communication and improve decision-making.
