Konica Minolta Business Solutions Leads Two Segments Of U.S. Color Copier Sales
bizhub C350, 8050 and CF5001 Sales Help Konica Minolta Attain #1 Market Share for 21-30 ppm and 41-69 ppm Color Copier/MFP Segments
RAMSEY, N.J. Janaury 13, 2005 Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta) today announced that it has secured the top market share position in the 21-30 ppm and 41-69 ppm color copier/mfp segments through the first three quarters of 2004. The ranking is based on market research compiled by Gartner, Inc., one of the world's leading IT market research firms (Gartner Dataquest: "Printer Quarterly Statistics United States Database" by Camille Iorns. November 15, 2004).
For combined color copier/mfp segments up to 69 ppm, Konica Minolta has achieved the number two ranking among all vendors. Konica Minolta attained 19 percent of the market share in the third quarter, up 6 percent from the previous quarter.
Fueled by continued customer adoption of its 8050 and CF5001, the company's 50-ppm production-level digital imaging systems, Konica Minolta achieved 85 percent market share for the first three quarters of 2004 in the 41-69 ppm color copier/mfp segment (Segment 5). These high-volume devices bridge the gap between the production color print and departmental color markets, and have set a new benchmark in terms of speed, performance and price since their launch.
In the 21-30 ppm segment (Segment 3), Konica Minolta achieved a market share of 28 percent for the first three quarters of 2004. Konica Minolta attributes this leading position to the rapid success of the recently introduced bizhub C350, Konica Minolta's highly versatile color digital imaging system. The bizhub C350 gives businesses access to an advanced color imaging system at the price of a monochrome device, enabling cost-effective color on demand.
"Recognizing that color is the fastest growing segment in the office document industry, we set a goal in 2004 to become a leader in this segment. These latest market share numbers prove that we are succeeding in that goal. We believe that our advertising and marketing programs have increased the awareness and demand for the bizhub brand and our color product line," said William H. Brewster, Jr., vice president, marketing, Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. "The technology behind our color product line offers higher color speeds, superb text and graphics quality, and competitive acquisition and operation costs. This innovative technology, combined with our commitment to provide extensive color support and training for customers and dealers, will continue to drive market share growth in the coming year."
