The KODAK NGENUITY 9150 Scanner’sproven performance and reliability earned it a Summer 2012 “Pick” Award from Buyers Laboratory Inc. (BLI). The NGENUITY Scanner beat the competition to earn BLI’s top honor for “Outstanding 130+ pages per minute (ppm) Production Scanner.” When compared to the other scanners tested by BLI, the NGENUITY Scanner performed at faster than average speeds and delivered the most accurate results for optical character recognition (OCR).
“The enhancements made to the NGENUITY 9150 build on the solid foundation recognized in BLI’s previous tests and help showcase the excellent image quality achievable at the production level,” said Lisa Reider, BLI’s Senior Product Editor for Scanners.
Kodak’s highly productive, fast-paced capture solution is designed to help service bureaus, financial institutions, government agencies and other document-intensive organizations provide workers with easier electronic access to information from paper-based documents such as invoices, bills, contracts and applications.
“BLI’s ‘Pick’ award is a major achievement for the NGENUITY Scanner, a customerfavorite known for its combination of highimage quality and a simplified user experience,” said Budd Webster, Kodak’s Director of Business and Category Management for Document Imaging. “We fine-tuned the next-generation capabilities of the NGENUITY Scanner to provide customers with a consistent, reliable solution that improves workflows by immediately moving captured documents into a core business process.”
The NGENUITY 9150 Scanner arms customers with several high-capacity features to help streamline document processing. Users can load the scanner’s feeder tray with up to 700 documents, which is 40 percent more than other scanners in its class. The feeder also features a Variable Feeder Tray Capacity control, which accommodates almost any batch size and includes an intelligent feature that can auto-adjust to previous batch sizes. These robust components are backed by a steel paper path and durable parts, which include sealed CCD cameras, long-lasting LED lights and user-replaceable rollers that last for 600,000 scans.
Kodak’s imaging hardware technology enables the NGENUITY 9150 Scanner, which includes onboard KOFAX VIRTUALRESCAN (VRS) Professional Software, to capture images at 200 dots per inch (dpi) quality at speeds up to 150 ppm with a daily duty cycle of 150,000. This capability enables higher optical character recognition (OCR), intelligent character recognition (ICR), and barcode recognition rates for more reliable forms processing. The NGENUITY Scanner also allows users to insert preprinted sheets with patch codes to automatically toggle scanner settings between color scanning and black-and-white scanning without pausing.
The NGENUITY 9150 Scanner also includes a user-friendly interface with front panel functionality that provides easy access to frequently used features. This includes two user-customizable function buttons. The scanner includes both a USB 2.0 and SCSI III port for easier connectivity to PCs.
