ROCHESTER, N.Y., July 13—The latest version of KODAK Capture Pro Software significantly enhances how businesses can use scanning to improve document driven processes. KODAK Capture Pro Software, v 2.0 offers expanded compatibility and easy-to-use scan functions to help increase user productivity and operational efficiency. Kodak plans to release the new version to the reseller channel by early September.

Capture Pro Software, v 2.0 maintains its support for KODAK Scanners and many other popular scanner models. The application focuses on accelerating critical business processes that rely on timely and reliable conversion of source documents into specific information. The new release now includes a database lookup that makes it easier to validate or populate index fields with data from Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) sources. This achieves greater flexibility, making it possible for businesses to reduce manual indexing and increase the accuracy of data capture.

Paul Leake, an imaging application engineer at Image Access West, a Kodak Authorized Imaging Reseller, describes the database lookup feature as, “Overall, very nice. Easy to install and use with good detailed documentation.” Resellers and users can view demonstrations of the Capture Pro Software, v 2.0 at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference, July 13-15, where Kodak will participate with Atalasoft, Inc., a member of Kodak’s Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Program.

The new release continues to expand the range of system output destinations, adding EMC DOCUMENTUM Software to the roster of other document management and electronic document management (ECM) systems, including MICROSOFT SHAREPOINT Server. Increased options for releasing images and data into these systems are available on the standard version of the product as well as in the application programming interface (API) available to Kodak’s extensive network of ISV partners. These enhancements strengthen the platform’s capacity for a range of scanning environments, from departmental to batch production scanning.

In addition, the upcoming release supports Kodak’s initiative to extend its capabilities for distributed capture environments. Capture Pro Software, v 2.0 offers versatile and powerful features for automatically importing, processing, indexing and outputting images created by a variety of capture devices, including multifunctional devices and specialty capture devices, such as large format scanners and networked scanners, such as the KODAK Scan Station 500.

With comprehensive product service and low operating charges, Capture Pro Software, v 2.0 can provide customers with a low cost of ownership and a significant return on investment (ROI). A single license fee provides businesses with unlimited scan volumes—no charge per click. This feature includes unlimited output of searchable PDF at no addition charge. Easy, out-of-the-box setup and minimal training afford additional cost savings. KODAK Service and Support also backs users with worldwide coverage.

Capture Pro Software, v 2.0 requires a computer with a PENTIUM IV, 2.8 GHz (or equivalent) computer processing unit (CPU), 1 gigabyte (GB) of system memory and 1 gigabyte of free disk space. Supported operating systems include MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP SP2 and SP3 (32-Bit) Operating Systems and MICROSOFT WINDOWS VISTA and SP1 (32-bit).

Capture Pro users with a current Care Kit will be eligible to download the new release at no charge upon availability.
