Fairfield, New Jersey, October 16, 2003 - Kyocera Mita, one of the world's leading document imaging companies, announced today the availability of its fully functional 31 pages per minute (ppm) monochrome, 8 ppm color digital workgroup system, the KM-C850D. The device is a comprehensive multi-functional product, with copy, scan, fax and print capabilities perfect for small workgroups or organizations that require the convenience of color.
The device includes standard 256MB RAM, a 20GB Hard Disk Drive (HDD), the ability to scan once and print many, electronically sort, and output multi-bit 600 dpi images. Additionally, the device has job build capabilities, which allows the user to copy documents that are over 100 pages in length, as well as 500 department management codes, which can restrict access to color output.

The KM-C850D features a 150 sheet multi-purpose tray (MPT) that can process paper up to 121lb index. The device also features a 500-sheet paper drawer, with the ability to handle 12” x 18” paper and stackless duplexing. The customer has the option of including user adjustable dual 250 sheet drawers.

For specialized publishing needs the KM-C850D provides users with a variety of capabilities including covers, inserts, page numbering (black only), margin shift, magazine binding, 2in1, 4in1, OHP interleaving, border erase and signature booklet making. Additionally, the KM-C850D offers a finishing option with 3 position stapling of 50 sheets per set and 2- and 3-hole punch. It also stacks up to 3,000 sheets for added functionality when printing long runs. An optional staple finisher to produce stunning sets of stapled documents in color or black and white, economically and quickly are available.

When utilizing the KM-C850D optional scan and fax systems, scanning and faxing is quick and easy. The user has the ability to scan up to 30 sheets per minute at 200 dpi monochrome and 15-spm full color/grayscale at 300 dpi. The device includes Kyocera Mita’s document management system, Document Flow, a continuous scan feature up to 250 originals, and also supports Scan to email, Scan to PC, and TWAIN. The KM-C850D offers high performance optional fax which uses SuperG3/33.6 kbps and features excellent image quality.

The KM-C850D offers optional network printing, fax and network fax capabilities. For network printing, the device includes an embedded Power PC750/400MHz processor, standard 256MB RAM (upgradeable up to 640MB) and an optional 20GB HDD. The KM-C850D supports the major page description languages KPDL3 (PS3), PCL6 (PCL 5c/PCL XL), PRESCRIBE and KC-GL (HP-GL 7550). PDF direct printing is also supported.

Through the network fax option, the device can send PDF or TIFF formats and has available features such as simultaneous print, rotate transmission, department codes, transmission reports by e-mail and cover pages.

The KM-C850D includes long-life consumables and reduced user maintenance. For example, the amorphous drum yields 600,000 monochrome prints before replacement, the highest drum yield of any color device in the class.

The unit measures 23.2" (W) x 23" (D) x 34.3" (H) and weighs approximately 262.3 lbs.
