I sell both the KIP and Ricoh Wide Format Products. The KIP 6000 is a really good unit, especially in the hands of a really good sales rep. If I had to sell against it I would focus on. 1) The scanning speed. It can have on of four scanners. Most likely is the 2050 at 2"/sec. The 2080 at 3.2"/sec or the 2120 at 4.8"/sec. The Ricoh is a lot faster than the 2050 scanner. The way to tell which scanner is being used is to find out the model being proposed. The 6052 or 6054 is the 2050 scanner. The 6082/6084 is the 2080 scanner and the 6122/6124 is the 2120 scanner. 2) The ease of use. The KIP is easy to use, but nothing is as easy to use as the Ricoh touch panel, especially if it is someone used to using traditional copiers. 3) Changing Paper. The KIP uses a spool that feeds through the roll similar to the 870, 760 analogs. 4) For the final blow. Output. The KIP delivers all out put to the back of the unit. The system must be placed so that the user can get to the back of the system to retrieve drawings.
Also the KIP does electronic sort in the proper order if set up properly.
What about reliablity? With the exception of one KIP I have run into, they ALWAYS have tons of problems which result in high maintenance costs?...both analog and digital. Im asking because I don't know if the KIP dealers around here are just slow/bad techs or if that is the case with KIP
