TOKYO -- Canon Marketing Japan aims to reap 800 billion yen ($6.71 billion) in group sales for the year ending in December 2020 by building information technology services as its new pillar.
That figure would represent a 24% jump from fiscal 2015, as outlined in the Canon marketing unit's new five-year plan. Parent Canon seeks to bolster business-to-business operations, which will be supported by Canon MJ's IT services.
The company looks to boost sales for services such as cloud-based management and maintenance as well as big-data analysis. IT services are to account for 40% of sales by 2020, up roughly 10 percentage points from 2015.
The company plans to raise operating profit by 50% to 40 billion yen, which would beat its record of 36.8 billion yen logged in fiscal 2007.
