It's Official, RICOH US launch of SP5200 Black A4

Dealer cost is so high on this product I just don't see anybody buying it. Pretty disappointed. I just don't see many people out there in this economy that are going to spend three to four thousand dollars on what amounts to a tabletop sized mfp. Was really looking forward to this product but after seeing the pricing its a total let down. We should have one in our showroom by the end of this week.

It's priced right in line with the Canon 1700 series, it's all about the speed, the apps, workflow and scanning. I can sell the heck out of it at 65-90 bucks a month in the right volume.

I have concerns about how long an AIO will last at 47 CPM.

Jomama: I am not a technician but how well do the Lexmark and HP AIO products run at 47+ pages per minute? Again, I have no technical experience but they seem to run fairly well from what I understand.

I dont have any experience with those models, it just seems to me that spinning all that plastic, that fast is a recipe for failure. It only has to go 25K (hah) tho.

I think you all are missing the point with this SP5200 series. Frankly, who cares about the cost of the product. Look for the applications and where the product fits. How many clients and prospects are paying for segment 2,3&4 products that don't produce 11 x 17 and have minimal finishing requirements. I would be bet at least 30% plus. From a sales standpoint you could sell these all day long for at or above retail from a pure lease perspective. Then add these into MPS opportunities and the G.P. in these deals will be incredible.

Rep in my office was up against Canon today and they were beating us up on a 33 per minute A3 so he tried to work it out by proposing the new model. Only one problem, Canon is in at $0.0083 per page on the service. We figure we can go no lower on a cpc on this product than $0.0149. So how's that going to work with mps when I'm seeing mps at below a penny a page?

I understand, we all know going up against direct operations is challenging especially down the street business. We sell both the Canon and the Ricoh. I am at $.01 per page on the Canon 1700 series. If this is a net new client why don't you match the price and see if this gets you the business?

on the subject of net new business, I know sometimes our hands are tied. Meaning management would not even attempt to match a low cpp, they would let the deal walk.

Went up against a Lexmark T652de, the quoted price was $2,400, watch out for dealers selling these models. Can't beat it with the new SP5200, had to go with Kyocera

I've seen CPCs above $0.015 in a lot of the govt contracts for the 1700 series.

GIntel, my pricing is the same for the entire series. We have net new client pricing which differs from current client pricing. From a low band of 3K per month at $.013 down to $.01 for over 15K for new clients. $.015 to $.013 for current clients. Doesn't matter what the hardware price is.

The X652de is a great machine I used to sell heaps. While it prints duplex It isn't a duplex/RADF scanner though!

You need to go to an X464/X654 to get full duplex copy/scan.

The HP M4555 is proving to be a great A4 device for us in this space, but almost everything we are doing is colour these days so our most popular box is the CM4540

OK that is an "X" model not a "T" no wonder I could not find it.

The Canon 1700 series will definitely give a run for its money.

Just finished setting up our showroom machine. First impression is its bigger than I expected.

fisher....thanks for sharing your picture. First impression when I saw this was the way over-sized LCD control panel which is disproportionate from the top of the unit. Another thing was the small not so robust doc feed and how tall that unit is. How much does the doc feed hold? What size in the platen glass? Does the pages come out back to front or right to left? What are those drawer capacities? Looks like they can hold 2 reams, but I doubt that. Are those stabilizers on the bottom so the top heavy unit does not fall over? Does this have an inner finisher? Can you do 2/3 hole punch?
