Waiting this one out at home, if the wind comes, along with surge in water much of NJ Coast will be under water. Fortunate to live on hill that overlooks the ocean, really hope the wind won't be paid. Last time we had something like this it was a noreaster back in 92, we wer without power for almost 4 days. So, if you don't see posting me from me, most likely we've been severed from the grid!

I also wanted to hope that all P4P'ers, family and friends stay safe!!

Who woulda guessed an earthquake that we felt and a hurricane in the same week in NJ!!!

Art...I hope you are spared from mother nature but she is not letting up. Glad to hear you live on a hill that should help as long as you spared from the winds.

Good friend of mine was a consultant working on a project for Discovery Channel in DC when the quake hit. He was freaking out being on the 7th floor and everything was falling to the floor. He said it actually put a decent size crack in the Washington Monument so they closed it down to the public. Then when he was flying back to Detroit the weather of very bad the plane circled for an hour. Then the pilot said "we will have to divert our landing as we are running out of fuel." We will land in Cleveland then later pilot came on and said we cannot land in Cleveland as they are full. We will head to Pittsburgh. He finally mad it home at 3AM.

I think by the time it reaches you it will be a tropical storm and weaken considerably.

We keep all the eastern P4P'ers in our prayers!

Well, after 5 days (almost) power was restored today! It was most interesting, I live right on the NJ coast less than 1/4 mile from the beach. Power went out around 11PM Saturday night, throughout the over night wind, rain and damage.

No damage to my home, however the town of highlands had up to 5 feet of water from the surge and high tide, many residents were flooded, numerous downed trees, power lines, and there were even some slides (slump block) from the hills in the Highlands. Winds at Sandy Hook clocked in at 75mph.

If we ever get another hurricane here in Jersey, I'm thinking I'm gonna get outta Dodge it was not fun, and I can only think of how bad Cat 2's and 3's could be.
