New imageRUNNER Devices Redefine Document Workflow for Mid-Sized Departments, Smaller Businesses and Workgroups
Lake Success, N.Y., January 16, 2007 – Addressing the document distribution and management needs of mid-sized corporate departments and smaller businesses and workgroups, Canon U.S.A., Inc., the nation’s market share brand leader in black-and-white and color laser printer/copier solutionsi, today introduced the imageRUNNER 3045/3035/3030/3025.
The new imageRUNNER 3045/3035/3030/3025, which are designed to solidify Canon’s leadership position in Segments 2-4, deliver quality digital output at speeds of up to 45 letter-sized pages-per-minute (ppm), 35 ppm, 30 ppm and 25 ppm, respectively, and advanced document production and storage capabilities. These new imageRUNNER multifunctional products (MFPs) are the first to use powerful new tools such as the optional Workflow Composer function that transforms time-consuming, multiple step tasks into simple workflows for each user. The devices also incorporate Canon’s Multifunctional Embedded Application Platform (MEAP) for advanced customization.
“Today, small offices as well as mid-sized workgroups and departments are seeking solutions that offer the flexibility to handle both basic multifunction performance and advanced digital communications,” said Tod Pike, senior vice president, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “These new imageRUNNER models deliver complete multifunction document production, storage and distribution solutions for these small offices and mid-sized workgroup users.”
System Highlights
The new imageRUNNER 3045/3035/3030/3025 devices feature Canon’s advanced imageCHIP (Concurrent Hyper Intelligent Platform) system architecture, providing superior productivity and operational concurrency for true multifunction performance. This architecture features Canon’s Custom Processor technology coupled with 512MB RAM (expandable to 768MB RAM), a 20GB hard disk to provide exceptional performance and document storage capacity to meet all types of print-on-demand applications. Standard USB 2.0 and 10/100Base-TX Ethernet interfaces enable network connectivity and remote device installation and monitoring.
The new imageRUNNER devices can easily be transformed into powerful central communications hubs for printing, sharing and managing information in the office. The optional UFR II/PCL Printer Kit enables network printing in all popular environments, while the PS Printer Kit adds supports for PostScript 3 emulation. With the addition of optional Universal Send capabilities, users can distribute scanned data to multiple destinations, including individuals or groups of e-mail and Internet Fax addresses, Fax destinations (requires Super G3 Fax single or dual line option), device Mail Boxes, network or host files and folders, and to document management applications, such as Canon imageWARE Document Manager.
Each new model is equipped with dual 550-sheet cassettes and a 50-sheet Stack Bypass, plus standard automatic duplexing for all supported paper sizes up to 11-inches x 17-inches. Two 550-sheet cassettes and a 2,700-sheet paper deck can also be added for increased paper capacity of up to 4,950 sheets for uninterrupted productivity. Advanced finishing capabilities from the compact Finisher, an internal finisher capable of performing 50-sheet stapling, hole punching and two-tray sorting within the original footprint of the machine, to the external Finisher and Saddle Finisher featuring expanded stapling modes and improved booklet printing for these new imageRUNNER models.
Improved Workflow Efficiency
Throughout mid-sized departments and small workgroups, there are often specific workflows that require the use of various combinations of features that must be performed numerous times throughout the business day, week or month. To help streamline these multiple step workflows, boost individual user productivity and reduce the chance for operator error, Canon offers the optional Workflow Composer function for the first time on these new devices.
Workflow Composer allows users to register a button that encompasses all of the scanning, editing, document merging, printing and sending settings necessary for an entire task or workflow. For example, an order comes into the sales department, and paperwork is completed, copied and sent to the main office with a confirmation faxed to the customer. Using Workflow Composer, the imageRUNNER device can be programmed to scan the document, e-mail the file to accounts receivable and shipping simultaneously, fax the document for confirmation to the customer at a pre-registered destination, while archiving the order in a designated Mail Box – all from a single button on the imageRUNNER device control panel.
The imageRUNNER 3045/3035/3030/3025 will be available in January through Canon authorized dealers and Canon Business Solutions with manufacturer suggested retail prices of $11,600, $9,200, $6,600 and $5,200, respectively.
