RICOH ENHANCES AFICIO LINE WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF THE AFICIO 2051/2060/2075 SERIES

West Caldwell, NJ, November 04, 2004 — Ricoh Corporation, the leading provider of digital office equipment, today launched the Aficio® 2051/2060/2075 Series, which is an enhancement to three existing Aficio products that were introduced in 2002 – the Aficio 1055, 1060 and 1075. The Aficio 1055 is now the Aficio 2051, the Aficio 1060 has become the Aficio 2060 and the Aficio 1075 has evolved into the Aficio 2075. At speeds of 51, 60, and 75 pages per minute (ppm) respectively, these new systems build upon the solid foundation of their predecessors by offering improved printing capabilities, advanced security features and unparalleled control for users in high-volume environments.
Sophisticated digital technology combined with advanced new technologies enable the Aficio 2051/2060/2075 Series to effectively and efficiently manage every aspect of the document workflow process – from input, to management and output. Additionally, in order to keep mission critical information protected and intellectual capital secure, Ricoh is placing a large emphasis on security. The advanced security features of the Aficio 2051/2060/2075 Series are designed to protect against information theft, leaking and falsification of electronic data.

“As working environments become increasingly demanding, Ricoh recognizes the need to update existing product lines with advanced technology that enables end users to be more in control of the document management process and increase productivity overall,” said Hede Nonaka, vice president of marketing for Ricoh Corporation.

Some of the advanced features of the Aficio 2051/2060/2075 Series include true 1,200 x 1,200 dpi output, a one pass duplex scanner, and extensive finishing options, including a 9-Bin Mailbox, Interposer, Booklet Finisher, and Z-Fold Unit, all of which allow more documents to be created in-house. Additionally, this series incorporates enhanced scanning functionalities including scan to e-mail with LDAP support and scan to folder via SMB or FTP– at 75spm for all three models.

Advanced data security technologies that have been incorporated into the Aficio 2051/2060/2075 Series include Windows Authentication and encryption of password and address book data. Windows Authentication prevents unauthorized usage of the machine by requiring users to input their network “Username” and “Password” on the Touch Panel Display prior to accessing the device. Since Windows Authentication utilizes a company’s existing network login infrastructure, IT does not need to set up a separate login system, and users do not have to remember yet another password.

The DataOverwriteSecurity System (DOSS) and Removable Hard Drive (RHD) options provide an even higher level of security. DOSS automatically overwrites information after each copy, scan or print job, conforming to recommended National Security Agency (NSA) methods for managing classified information, so information cannot be easily retrieved or stolen. The RHD option allows users to easily manage classified and/or sensitive information by allowing the device’s internal hard drive to be unlocked, removed, and stored. When used together, Authentication, RHD, and DOSS provide a multi-layered document security process and give customers peace of mind when connecting these systems to their network.

One of the more impressive features of the Aficio 2051/2060/2075 Series is the improved warm-up time. Instead of taking five minutes to warm-up, this series is ready for use in a mere 30 seconds. Not only is this more convenient for the end-user, enabling efficiency and productivity to increase, but it allows customers to reduce their electricity usage, saving both energy and money. This feature is consistent with Ricoh’s continuous support of the Energy Star Program and its dedication to creating products that are not only user-friendly, but environment-friendly as well.

The Aficio 2051/2060/2075 Series MFPs are also available as SP models, which include digital printing and network scanning as standard.

A conference call that will provide further details on the Aficio 2051/2060/2075 Series will be held on Thursday, November 4th at 11am EST. The dial-in information is as follows:
